Hi everybody,

I guess I should be introducing myself because the admins start hunting me down, eh?

So, where do I start? At the beginning, there was chaos and then the Big Bang... Oh, wait, too far back... Let's try again. So, years ago, I watched an anime called Madlax and remember this catchy insert called Nowhere. Didn't pay much attention back then so, it felt back to the memory backburner. Fast forward a couple of years and was watching Mobile Suit Gundam Seed as well as Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny and, once again, some of the songs caught my attention. I did a bit of digging and found the singer for Nowhere was the same as the insert songs in GS and GSD! Somehow, as a result, I bought the Destination CD... And everything once again went to the memory backburner.

Fast forward again. A couple of weeks ago, having nothing better to do, I re-watched the Gundam DVDs and... Bam! Those insert songs! So, as any person in this Internet age did, starting looking for FictionJunction Yuuka, which led to Kajiura Yuki which led to the other FictionJunction projects (as well as Kalafina) and eventually this site. So, here I am!

Now, under normal circumstances, I would have stayed a lurker but I have a question to ask so I might as well introduce myself before continuing!

Other (useless?) details:

1) I apologize if I don't say who is my favourite FictionJunction Club singer. While I do cheer for one or two (or three??? ^_^) over the others, in the end, I feel they are who they are because they are a group. In other words, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
2) Don't have much musical knowledge but, as I have been reading different threads, I feel I am learning more about music. Hopefully? You know, high notes, low notes and so on.
3) I don't have problems with Engrish, specially when the singers say something in a weird way. I myself speak three completely unrelated languages (Cantonese, English and Spanish) and I know it is difficult to jump from one language to another. In fact, me being Chinese living in Canada, when I meet people for the first time, they usually look at me funny as I speak English with a Latin accent (not to mention US Southern type idioms).
4) I took some basic Japanese courses eons ago but I only recall paying for the class, not much the class itself. So, overall, I don't understand the lyrics at all (then again, I usually don't pay attention to lyrics in Cantonese, Spanish or English songs!). Still, I like the songs from FJ and Kalafina because there is a sense of emotion given to them. Sorry, not sure if this is a bit strange/doesn't make sense!

Anyway, that's my small intro and... Admins, can you recall those "for hire"? ^_^

not really, but many of us like to share our appreciation for Yuki Kajiura's music.

I found Nowhere on videos of Animelo Summer Live 2009. [Also on the other day of that concert was Chiaki Ishikawa, who sang with Yuki Kajiura in See-Saw.]

I actually like the FictionJunction line-ups more than Kalafina partly for this reason.

They were probably only the figment of imagination of an admin who had been watching El Cazador de la Bruja. (-:

Welcome KimH! Being one of the crazier ones around here, I'm just back from seeing some concerts in Japan including seeing Yuuka Nanri, Kalafina, Chiaki Ishikawa, Airi Yuuka (Asuka) and Kaori Oda. Please keep posting and asking any questions you like about Yuki Kajiura's music.

welcome to CPM! seems like we have another chinese speaker :ayashii: what dialogue do you speak?

i agree with not really paying attention to the lyrics in songs, whether they be in languages i can understand or not. for me, what makes songs beautiful aren't the lyrics, but the sounds -- which is why i really like YK and her ability to convey emotions without necessarily using words you know.

hope to see you participating around the forums! also, there's chat if you want to talk in a more casual medium to other fellow people/fans :XD:

Thanks everybody for your welcome replies!

Well, better safe than sorry? ^_^;;; However, now that you mentioned this series, I realized I haven't watched it. And given it has some similarities to Madlax (girls with gun aside), why not!

what dialogue do you speak?

I speak Cantonese but... I am ashamed to say I can't read Chinese. That's because my family didn't live in China while I was growing up and, instead, ended up learning the local language, which happens to be Spanish. Another oddity as a result of this is that I speak a more "traditional" Cantonese in the sense I don't use many slangs or Chinglish.

interesting... that actually sounds really cool :ayashii: i think i should be more ashamed than you as i've taken years of chinese school for mandarin, yet i can't remember how to speak/read/write it... i can only recognize the most basic of characters :TdT: however, i'm better at communicating in teochew, which is admittedly less useful than canto or mandarin...

Welcome! I am also a fan of Yuuka, but Kalafina is still my favorite. I am Liana, and you can ask me any questions as well. I have been here for awhile now. I hope you like it here and keep on posting! (it's been kind of slow as of late) I do give you credit for taking Japanese, as I want to do that as well. I am learning very slowly, but just with the Nintendo DS. heh I want to learn properly. Anyways, welcome again. :dote:

ImmortalBirdcage, there is no shame in that. It is a case of you not using it, you lose it. Funny story: Technically, I speak hakka as well. "Technically", because the only person who I speak it with is my grandmother. Since she was taking care of me when I was a toddler, it was a case of do or die, as she didn't speak Cantonese!

Shin, thanks!

Liana, I do have a thing for languages; however, my success ratio has been extremely low. For example, after going to some French classes and despite I live in Canada where, supposedly, there is a French speaking population, the only phrase I have been able to learn is "je ne parle pas français", said in perfect French! (If you translate it, you will understand the irony!).

Kerahna, used to live in Vancouver - "used to" being the key phrase... Sorry, that's all I am going to say!

Welcome!!! Hope you enjoy the site as much as I!! It's nice connecting with others who enjoy Yuki Kajiura's music!
You may have already answered this question, or may not feel comfortable answering it, but where in Canada do you live? Not specific city, but area. I'm about 40 miles from Canada. :sparkleguy:

A pretty late welcome to the forum, KimH!

Hope you enjoy your stay here! :goodjob:
