Highway Star Party 2024 (Sept 22-23, 2024)

I'm probably biased, because like I said, I like the guys. Them belting most of the song in the og pitch is wild.

I absolutely agree that it came across as a drunken karaoke segment from how the guys are (but also because of the bloody strings and I still don't think it's a hype song for lives) but I think that was kind of the point of the JUNCTION segment? Having fun? And, despite @CloisteredFlame's screenshot from the opening kajiurago of the song, Kajiura absolutely had a grin on her face through most of the song.

I can also totally understand if others don't like it. Maybe I wouldn't either, if it were an og studio song, rather than this live situation
I had no idea this existed (been follwing FJ, Yuki and Kalafina for years but with interruptions) and just went to blilibli just to watch it. I can understand why people are not a fan, but I loved the different energy they brought. It highlights also how technical the song can be. Perhaps the arrangement maybe a bit more rock, but those are just my preferences. I love seeing these big switches, rather than just sticking close to the familiar.

I was just watching this concert again and was excited for the possibilities of a 2026 edition (if it ever happened), especially because of the new music/roster during 2025.

  • We have "black rose" and thus a potential Emiko 🌹 presence for a powerful lead (with different backing instrumentalists).
  • We have "lighthouse", and LINO LEIA will definitely be present for the show, so that's also possible to be performed.
  • LINO LEIA also has her new song, "Horizon", though that's more of a ballad. She tends to sing her latest releases as HSP so this time shouldn't be any different
  • KAORI has her new FJ song, "Hikidashi de Hikaru Shiteru 『引き出しで発光している』", also more of a ballad.

Anyway, it's more probable the desire would be for Kajiura to present more of guaranteed crowd favorites like they did the last time with the SAO songs. This is all assuming Highway Star even sees it as financially feasible to have the Party next year.

From around 2:28:45, during the everyone-sings-along song, Yuriko held the mic for Kajiura to join the chorus and it was just pleasantly funny. Kajiura is only very comfortable behind her keyboard!
