I'm not sure if they listed them anywhere (I did not bother searching), but the live band seems to be the same as last year, which is cool.

Having a listen now, appropriate that Chihiro Yonekura covered Anna ni Issho Datta no ni, since she had sung it with Chiaki Ishikawa at Animelo Summer Live 2008.

There is a statement on the day 1 video page that day 2 will be uploaded on 24 January 2025.

Upon listening to Fictionjunction’s performance in Highway Star party 2024, you can really understand why the FBM is such a crucial part of Yuki Kajiura’s music ( or musicians whom she specifically choose ). The band is great but nothing beats the FBM.
Nowhere sounded so good with Rito,NGL. She is how Hikaru sounded in her prime ( 2008 to 2011 ). I wish there will be a day where Rito will lead in Aria.
 
I've not heard it yet but I feel like comparing a band of people regularly working with 1 composer to a support band that is there to add color to what could've been a full-on karaoke party of 20+ singers (with however many more composers) over 2 nights is a little unfair.

I'm sure many a people would love to get a YK live with Nozaki again. I'm disappointed we never got Nishikawa on a released live, despite him being on Dream Field 2019...

I completely forgot about Terada and Ren(SUIREN) (and possibly more HS instrumentalists) when I typed singers above. Brainfart. With that said, don't think it changes what I was trying to say.

I was going to wait for a .ts on jps but gave in and sampled the bili upload (skipped luminous sword 'cause reasons ;).

In general, to me the band was great. I did not feel like I was missing Korenaga in guitar solos.

I refuse to believe the violin before guitar solo or during the bridge was kb (which it was before ending lalalas), so if anyone recognizes it from another live, do tell.

rito was interesting - different energy from other nowheres I'd heard. Personally, I think I prefer Hikaru in vol20asia bootlegs, but I definitely did not mind rito. Keiko running in front of her as she had her solo was unfortunate. :p
I still think Yuriko has no idea what that one line is and is just mumbling whatever, lol.
The kb solo instead of violin was great.

I like the guys so it was perfectly fine to me but I don't think it's a good song for an event like this. Not to mention the heavy playback strings. Maybe I'm a Magia hater. :P

Yoko Ishida doing Gurren Lagann OP was great.
shuri with Kitadani doing Mizuki x TM-kun was awesome, too.

Oh right, many thanks to the lighting team for chilling on the strobes compared to last year. I very much appreciate that. Then again, maybe it's just the bigger venue so whatever flashing there is doesn't poke me in the eyes as much. XD

On that stage note, maybe it's just me but, from sampling, the energy of day2 (particularly before the JUNCTION section) felt significantly lower compared to day1 or even 2023. The camerawork was kinda snooze, too.

I agree about this. They are sometimes dismissed as "boring" here, but their predicable reliability is what Kajiura's music what it is, and allows the singers' expressiveness to be layered on that solid base of musicianship. They rarely get to go all out because the music doesn't call for it.

Apart from the solos he can't change and must do note-for-note, e.g. "Magia", he does some good solos but for me often gets carried away with high-speed shredding, so sometimes he doesn't follow the contour of the song. That's where the Linked Horizon guitarists are more musical in my opinion. They get A LOT of opportunity to play in Revo's high-speed songs but they follow the contour of the chord progressions quite well.

One could say that @toshiroukajiura was indirectly mounting a defense of FBM since there've been comments about how Kajiura's music needs a fresh group of musicians implying that FBM is stale or not skilled enough. I have also commented that I like the HS Party 2023 drummer and guitarist (his solos were appropriate in my opinion).

But to your point, the band that regularly works with the composer definitely have the music in their blood having played them dozens or maybe hundreds of times, compared to musicians playing them for the 2nd or 3rd time (including rehearsals).

The FBM has been an integral part of FJ and KLF music and made them what they are. It's good that other musicians get to enjoy the compositions as well, from time to time.
 
Well then I myself do not think this band diminished the Kajiura experience at all and I liked this new keyboard instead of violin as a refresher for nowhere. Sorry if others do not agree. :p

And I guess I have to eat shit for saying what I said on the previous page. I thought there would be some hype but nope. Holy moley those long ass playback strings sections with just bopping. What a horrible pick. Retire this track and any other ones with leading playbacked strings from lives. Kthx.
