Usually a joke amongst some of us guys is that how Russian pilots can turn up with large potbellies and smellling of alcohol but still trash NATO pilots in the cold war...
Like they always say...no one can fly MiGs better than the Russians.
That other pilot you spoke of, was she an early aviator or someone modern? Cos there was one modern one that left quite a deep impression on me. I think she flew helicopters as well as stunt aircraft (a bit like the Extra 300S or its equivalent).

BFY is a little overboard in terms of "new" technology, though.
Macross is bit closer. The closest ones that do look like Su-27 are the early VFs that appeared in the 25th Anniversary AMV (with May'n's "Welcome to my fanclub's night" as the BGM).

Very pretty indeed. Though for 3-holers, both the Tu-154 and the MD-11 tie in very closely to me and they also have a special place in my heart.
They have a very romantic look about them...
A bit like the An-2...but that's a different kettle of fish altogether (the An-2 vs 3-engined a/c).

too bad the production is discontinued
But i had a dogfight and beat my friend in Ace Combat. that time i used Su-47 while my friend used F-22
btw i thought the best Russian pilot is the one who first time introduce Cobra Maneuver with his Su-37 Terminator.
altough american pilots said that Cobra maneuver is useless
