Long hair, personally, especially curled.

All 3 Kalafina girls were extremely beautiful with curled wavy long hair, but something about it fits Hikaru a lot more.

Thinking about it, I feel that Keiko works better with long straight hair than curly, but the curls definitely suit Hikaru directly.
Wakana seems to be in the middle to me...

For FictionJunction, Joelle definitely looks good in it (YKL 17), Kaori I haven't seen in it. Yuriko is fine in it I think... The little ones (rito, LINO) no evidence yet.

I think it depends on the volume of hair and the waviness of the curls. I think Hikaru's face shape (1st photo) blends better with the heavier volume and curls from the side of the face all the way down. Wakana probably more so with the lesser volume and light curls at the edges (2nd photo), which is how she wears her hair usually, less in volume or pulled back from her face. Keiko always has more volume more consistently.

2016 era Hikaru hair was my favorite!!!

9+ONE live where it was very very short - was my LEAST fav….

I was happy by the time of the 10th anniversary concert it had grown back a bit with a bit of waviness, it was a great wrap for me.

Hikaru with long hair will always represent the era where Hikaru voice sounded like metal pipes (as KAJIURA once described), after around 2014 or so I can’t remember when, her voice really changed and that’s where the hair change really coincides in my mind

Seems like Kalafina's European-adjacent music lent itself to a lot of curls in the hairstyles for the ladies over the years. Especially in the early years. I really like Hikaru's look here.

My untested theory is that a wider, less long face gives space for the curls to properly frame the face more consistently, in different variations, without seeming to overwhelm it, unlike slimmer, longer faces.

She can really do the one-eye covered look quite well with the hair coming over her face. I think it reflects her introverted temperament.
