During a livestreamed special on Sunday, Bandai Namco Filmworks announced more details on Sunrise's new Macross animation project which was announced in June 2023. Flying Dog and Lantis are hosting a "Macross x Sunrise 'New Macross' Super Dimension Songstress Audition 2025" (or "Macross Heroine Audition") contest to find the new songstress (or songstresses) for the upcoming project.

jvc AND Lantis? Wot?

Edit:
Hmm, the audition song kind of makes it seem like they are doubling down on the direction they went with in Delta (except maybe solo this time). I didn't hate Delta's Walkure songs but would've liked something different now.

Edit2:
If anyone cares for the short size song and instrumental (and other files like stems), they are on the audition page with google drive links.

Watched MoNoNoKe Movie chapter2 and, to my surprise, I enjoyed myself quite a bit.

It was far more straightforward compared to what I remember thinking of chapter1. It moves along steadily and without feeling overedited - granted the general setup & a lot of characters carry over from the first movie so this one doesn't have to spend time on setting shit up. Kamiyan & the Medicine Pedler come across much better in this one too, not sure if Kamiyan actually got better in the role or maybe just because they gave the Peddler a more active role compared to the first movie.

As for the OST, while Iwasaki's rap & action vibe is still a fail for me in this setting, there were a couple of moody moments that I liked this time around (like around ~32min, and whenever a different rendition of it would appear, not sure if this is new or a repeat from movie1).
Edit: Oh the theme does seem to be a carryover from the first movie. Guess I was in a better mood watching this one then.

I also liked the Japanese insert song before the final fight and for a second thought how funny it would be if it turned out to be Emiko singing here too, but I don't think it's her. XD
The ending credits mention "maina" on Vocal in general OST and one of the insert songs so it might be her. https://www.instagram.com/p/DHOJav9TxiY/ & https://www.youtube.com/@maina_vocal/videos

Anyways, looking forward to the 3rd one next year.

I read through the article and it seems that I’m in agreement with the major part of his points.

Japan should be careful to continue to create only organic stories that are borne from ideas burning in the hearts of the mangaka or director. True and authentic storytelling will always draw its own audience.

Any attempt to shape a plot to an “audience” will lead to cliches and will eventually ring hollow.
