1. Sandpiper from After Eden live. It made me realise how much I love that song after all.
2. serenato from the LIVE CD. I absolutely adore this performance, just wish there was a video to go with it.

4. Sprinter Acoustic Ver ~Christmas Live 2012~. I love Sprinter as is, but I might actually prefer this over the original. Christmas Live release when :gimmeh:
5. Alleluia from BEST RED. I had issues with a bunch of stuff on RED, but holy crap this performance was amazing and perfect in every way.

Special BONUS:
Hikari Furu at Japan Expo. Made me appreciate a song I didn't care for much before, and it made me cry :touched:.

My fave version of Aria is that early one BECAUSE MAYA. The Consolation live DVD/blu-ray of Door is another fave, because Keiko's improv during the coda makes an otherwise "meh" album track into something a bit special.

Then there are other standouts that I've stumbled on while browsing YT, but they get taken down so frequently I can't recall where they're from. There's an absolutely rad Yuuka live performance of Aikoi, and possibly in the same song Konno does a violin solo with a wah pedal that a virtuoso guitarist would be proud of.

Or *that* performance from 2008 where they play the Cossette theme and launch into Houseki straight after, where Keiko absolutely owns it. My memory goes all fuzzy over this stuff sometimes - my brain is convinced they did a medley of Let The Stars Fall Down and Lotus when they're probably recordings of completely separate concerts. :bow:I'm going to have to track down the DVDs and CDs of all these, because I'm already starting to lose count of them!
 
I rather like Door, but the Consolation live version is even better. That Keiko improv is lovely.

That's about that I guess. I'm only a studio version fan of Kalafina bcoz of REMI, Hanae, and Yuriko on chorus.
 
I won't rank but I can tell you which live versions I like the best for certain songs

Kalafina

oblivious - Lisani! 2011 (I think it's mainly because of the lighting at the beginning. I know that shouldn't be the reason, but... //hit)
kimi ga hikari ni kaete iku - vol.3 opening act (the only time Keiko doesn't sing the beginning in her "cutesy" voice)
sprinter - Type-Moon Fes.
ARIA - Type-Moon Fes. (it used to be RM but despite Wakana's straining in Type-Moon, Hikaru just kills it. also how Keiko follows Hikaru's wakare wo tsuge and then Wakana comes in with another melody always gives me the chills. from kieta to kasanete is probably my favourite two stanzas of the song)
fairytale - 2012 Xmas (the strings during Keiko's stanza ahhhh)
serenato - I alternate between the bootleg from their asia tour (because I actually like how Hikaru sings) and the one from their closed premium live (bc the live drums give so much to the song)
mata kaze ga tsuyoku natta - RM (bc of how Hikaru rocks the bridge (idk if I'm using the correct term)
ongaku - alternating between RM (bc Keiko's voice at the beginning is sexy af) and consolation (I like how they hold out some of the notes)
Lacrimosa - Lisani 2010 (honestly probably bc of the drumming)
red moon - AE ALL THE WAY NOTHING CAN BEAT IT
I have a dream - Budokan (after hearing the live strings+flute, I can't turn back to even the studio ver)
kagayaku sora no shijima ni wa - AE (pretty much only bc of the wonderful wh harmony during the middle kajiurago)
Magia - Lisani 2010 (yes I am one of those people)
snow falling - Budokan (I don't normally like this song but when I heard the recording from budokan I thought "WOW. So THIS is how snow falling is supposed to sound)
Hanataba - Consolation (nothing can touch this version)
ring your bell - Full Chorus (idk it just sounds very nice)

houseki - vol.4 (that guitar is crying, I swear)

I guess I had to wait for FotW Special Final DVD/BD before posting my whole list hehe XDD
and its been years since I last watched FJYuuka/YK lives on DVDs, so Im rewatching those, lol XD
