Contrary to popular belief, the atmosphere of our planet is actually colourless. However, the molecules of ozone and nitrogen (along with other compository subtances of the earth's atmospheric layers) scatter the white light from the sun and thus cause it to appear blue. The presence of dust, pollutants and other aerosols will cause light to scatter even further and thus produce even more colours. :glasses:
