Avatar's size

I was wondering: what are the possibilites of allowing the maximum size to be 120x120 (150x150 would be even better). I don't know what are the implications of having bigger avatars so if it's too "harmful" for the forum it's okay.

Says the one who currently has a 2MB gif in their signature.

There are three reasons for limiting a avatar's size (both download size and screen size):
1. So it will fit into the theme, which will fit on to your screen.
2. So it will download relatively quickly, whether you have a fast Internet connection or not.
3. So it will not distract from conversation.

#3 is currently not a moot point, as we currently allow huge images in signatures, which can distract more than avatars. I mean, I can limit image width as I currently do, but not content.

#1 would mean there would be some work in re-arranging things. Less width for messages & signatures.

#2 is harder with all the animated onions, but still has a point.

It's just that sometimes it is difficult to fit an image into 100x100.
 
the width of the avatar column is just under 150; it will look strange to go all the way to the edge but maybe it could allow slightly bigger than 100... like maybe 130?
