What i saw when i don't knowed whose music is Noir and Hack//Sign
but i'm fell in love to her music even don't knowing that is Kajiura-san.
And what i saw because of her music: Elemental Gelade but music amazing Hack//Liminality, Madlax, El Cazador Pandora Hearts
Le Portrait de Petit Cossette, Tsubasa Chronicle, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, KnK, Gundam Seed & Destiny (just adore all Kajiura's songs!), Fate/Zero, SAO
Also i watched the film Achilles to kame (very beautiful classic music)
I wish to that Kajiura-san to write music for films
^ She has wrote music for achilles to kame and the 15-year-old soldier one (I have it if you want it) but the score for both wasnt what I was personally expecting, even if its fitting the films. I would prefer her to start again composing for video games.
Kara no Kyokai - watched it because of Kalafina. I really love both the anime and Kajiura's soundtracks.
Sword Art Online - the anime is disapointing, and Kajiura's scores are disappointing too.
Fate/Zero - Actually I kinda like the anime, but the OST are just strings, strings, strings, strings, strings. Well, at least I like some of the songs. Better than SAO, I don't find anything that really amazed me.
Gundam Seed/ Seed Destiny - I already love See-Saw's songs and Yuuka's Honoo no Tobira even before I know Kajiura composed those songs.
Pandora Hearts - anime is confusing, but this is the anime that got me hooked to Kajiura's works, since I used to love Parallel Hearts so much. Then I've got into FJ and Kalafina.
TRC - I've watched this even before I know Kajiura's anime, lol. Anime is disappointing, like totally disappointing. This is the anime that made me fall in love with FJ even more, thanks to dreamscape and Kaze no Machi e.
Madlax, Mai Hime, El Cazador de la Bruja - simply won't try watching them. Personal reasons.
but you forgot tracks like man in black and painful 2, these dont have strings and are great :)
as for SAO I was expecting some celtic BGMS for the ALO part, the absense of which disappointed me a bit, but there are certainly some very good track in, you will see in a few days :)
Actually I LOVE STRINGS. But it's just heavily abused in Fate/Zero OST to the point I can't stand hearing anymore strings...and 2 out of 30 something songs just spoke for itself Although I have to agree that strings are the most suitable instrumental for F/Z theme. But she can use strings without using it as the main instrumental for almost all track for me.
As for SAO, I've re-watched the anime and nothing quite catch my attention, only that Tokyo Konsei one.
^ She has wrote music for achilles to kame and the 15-year-old soldier one (I have it if you want it) but the score for both wasnt what I was personally expecting, even if its fitting the films. I would prefer her to start again composing for video games.
@ ritardando: 2 are the one that I remembered when I was writing the psot but there are more: the legend, little drop of peace, assasin (also great track imo), betrayer, little peace, betrayer, in a foreign town, she's just in time, days gone by, the dream fades bla #2, tender moment, not counting all the SFX ones (which are about 8 in both OSTs) and the only piano ones.
If you consider the unreleased ones, I think you get a instrumental rearrangement of manten, a fast guitar track and some others I dont remember.
Anime I watched (fully unless stated otherwise):
OSTs by YK:
- Pandora Hearts: first time I heard her work, and loved it (the music) but the ending was not so great
- Puella Magi Madoka Magica: watched for her and the story, really liked it
- Fate/Zero: watched for her and Urobuchi Gen (leading on from PMMM), found nearly everything about it wonderful
- Madlax: watched for her music, but didn't really get the story
- Noir: watched for her and Mashimo (director), LOVED it.
- El Cazador de la Bruja: lead on (Girls with Guns trilogy + YK), enjoyed it
- .hack//SIGN: for YK + Mashimo, liked it when once its pace picked up
- Kara no Kyokai (Chapter 1 only): oblivious sounded amazing
Theme songs by YK:
- Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) I & II: really liked Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni Wa
- Chrono Crusade: liked the ending, but only noticed it was written by YK later orz
- Baccano: watched because of Durarara!!, only noticed ED was done by her later (again!)
Want to watch:
- Eve no Jikan (I already watched the episodes)
- Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
- Cosette no Shouzou
- Eat-Man
thanks to uta-tane i'm interested to start watching kara no kyoukai recently after noticing some awesome bgm during shiki's fight. Luckily there's still some torrent for all episodes & OSTs alive
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
I love this series! It was my first encounter with Yuki Kajiura's awesomness! The dark feeling the soundtrack creates throughout the series and the wery emotonal pieces at the end are remarkable and belong to the most impressive bits of music I've ever heard! (Sagitta Luminis ) Not to forget the amazing "Magia"!
The story of this Anime blew me away. I like how this show really fools you at the beginning and also the story twists belong to the best I've ever seen! Not to speak about the whole philosophy this Anime contains! Somebody really thought something out there! Go go Gen Urobuchi
The animations are wery artistic and unique, they fully impressed me! My soundtrack rating: 6 out of 5!! Awesome! Still my favorite Kajiura work!
Overall Anime rating: Also 6 out of 5!!
Kara no Kyoukai
Animation: , Amospere: , Kajiura's music: !
Sadly the english subs I had for this show were pretty bad, so I didn't fully understand the whole Shiki - SHIKI thing, but I eventually will rewatch it with german dub (which I heard to be pretty good) but I currently lack the money to buy the BD's . (Btw, I am a quality freak so I only watch best quality aviaible )
The only thing which bothered me was all the blood and gore in this anime (especially in the 5th movie). I really don't like splatter in general, because I consider it as very tasteless!
My soundtrack rating: 5 out of 5! Great! This music really creates an unequalled atmospere! And of course there is Kalafina!
Overall Anime rating: 4 out of 5. Pretty good, but I really have to rewatch it. Maybe my rating changes then. But still... too much splatter
Pandora Hearts Positive first: The soundtrack was (of course) good! It did contain some of the most beautiful pieces of Yuki ("Everytime you kissed me" ) What else was positive?
You see, I didn't like it!
Negative (objective part): The animation quality was bad! No, really! This anime looks like it was produced in 2000 or something! The only thing whereof you can identify it as new is the format 16:9!!
Negative (subjective part): 1. I HATE tsundere girls!!! To me, they are just moronic, dumbass bods!! It doesn't matter to me if they love the protagonist in reality or not, they still annoy me badly! (Alice ) Please could someone help me to understand the "attractiveness of tsundere"? I really don't!
2. There was also another character who annoyed me, and that was the main protagonist Oz. I'm sorry, but he acts so stupid sometimes! I really dislike his charakter!
3. The mixture of slapstick comedy and serious mystery really didn't work for me. As a result the whole story didn't affect me at all, because everything seemed so ridiculous to me. (I don't even want to begin to talk about Xerxes )
4. The end?! So much was left unexplained! If they don't make a sequel (which I indeed wouldn't watch) I'll consider this even more an epic fail! I at least hope for the ones who liked the series that they do continue it!
There were much more things I disliked, but I better stop here If you like Pandora Hearts, that's completely OK! But I just don't!
My soundtrack rating: 4,5 out of 5. Of all of Yuki's soundtracks I know, this is my least favorite. It's just not as good as her others, but still high above-average music!
Overall Anime rating: 2 out of 5. I'm sorry!
Fate/Zero
Finished it yesterday. I really have to say: The amazing soundtrack was the only reason I watched this show!
Some time ago I watched Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works at a friend's.
I mean, the animation was freakin' awesome! But the rest.... The movie would deserve a price for the worst script of all time!!! I didn't understand anything about the story! And then (like I already mentioned) there was blood and gore wherever you looked! Other than in Kara no Kyoukai, where also many scenes were quite hideous, here were some scenes which were really disgusting and completely over the top.
Gilgamesh ripping Ilia's heart out.
I think one should really ask oneself what is still morally justifiable as mere entertainment and what is not. I am not a person who can't bear these things, not at all! But I really ask myself when I'm watching such things, and I think everyone should!
Nevertheless I somehow ended up watching Fate/stay night (after my friend assured me that the series was better) It definitely was better, but still bad! The whole concept of the holy grail war is such a joke!! The protagonist acts idiotic (reminds me of Oz ), Ilia's personality is so grotesque and annoying ("onii-chan I love you but will eventualliy kill you " ) and......and......and.....
Yes, Fate/stay night was the second worst Anime I ever saw! (Only topped by Guilty Crown). So you can imagine that I really didn't want to watch Fate/Zero at first, despite it's great music! But then I heard about Gen Uobuchi wrote the story, so I gave it a try....
Animation was mindblowing! Best I'v ever seen! In contrast to Fate/stay night, the story and pilosophy behind it is very elaborate. Dear Gen really knows how to write good plot twists! There were many great moments in this anime, and I really liked Rider
But this alone and Yuki's music did't completely save the show for me...sadly. There are just way too many (I'm sorry for the inappropriate expression) a**hole characters, which I constantly wished to hell as they appeared on screen!!! (Caster, Ryuunosuke, Gilgamesh, Kirei, Zouken) What they do is so diabolic... I just don't need an anime to turn me agressive, I really don't!!
My soundtrack rating: 5 out of 5! Love it! It's so EPIC! Also the Kalafina sings and the Haruna Luna song were amazing! (But didn't like first opening of LiSA that much Ending by Aoi Eir was pretty though! )
Overall Anime rating: 3,5 out of 5. Considereng the universe it plays in (Fate) it was actually pretty good!
I'm sorry, this really ended up as a hard critique of anime you are maybe a fan of so PLEASE FORGIVE ME!!
Anime I plan to watch
Sora no Woto Already downloaded it and watched the opening! .
Noir A must watch for any Kajiura fan I suppose
Maybe you guys could give me some advice which anime I also should watch You now know what I don't like!
