Wait, are we doing this for the entire OST or any music at all that Yuki composed that was used for an anime?

Not necessarily the entire OST. Even just a song or two counts. There were times I didn't even know Yuki wrote music for the anime until I hear a familiar song, so that's a plus. =D

I want to invest time into watching the Kara no Kyoukai movies... does anyone want to do a short promotion for them? :XD: I'd like to know what are some attractive elements [BESIDES THE SOUNDTRACK! :nosebleed: ]

How about this for starters: the lead, Ryougi Shiki, simply KICKS MAJOR ASS!!!! She is sooo badass in it. =D

The quality of the writing, animation, rendering, characterization, chill-factor, and last, but definitely not least, the OST's :XD: are all top notch. It's quite a masterpiece, really. I'd buy the DVD's if I had extra money.

Want to:
-- Rekishi Hiwa Historia
I didn't know there was an anime with that title..i can't find the info anywhere..but i love the soundtrack :tea:

Hm... I don't watch anime because of the music ...

I found Yuki first through .hack//SIGN (well, call it boring, but I watched the whole episodes and love it completely.... the same goes with Noir)
Btw, you won't understand the story of .hack//SIGN completely unless you play the game... well... sort of, because it is confusing. Thanks to kazunori ito.

and then I tried Madlax until ep. 13 (no I don't watch it because of yuki, but because of Mashimo)

and i kinda forget El Cazador from the third episode.

Haven't watched other animes. Not very into them.

Oh well... I do have one anime I watched because of the music... petite cossette.

Watched :

None :ohoho:

Tried to Watch :

Le Portrait de Petit Cossette and Mai-Hime

Want to Watch :

Noir + Tsubas Chronicles

Hmm, so that's how we do it (going by OSTs she's done only).
  • Shin Kimagure Orange Road (okay)
  • Noir (okay)
  • Aquarian Age (okay)
  • .hack//SIGN (liked)
  • .hack//Liminality (okay)
  • Cossette no Shouzou (LOVE)
  • MADLAX (LOVE)
  • Mai-HiME (good show ruined by shitty endings to both arcs)
  • Erementar Gerad (bleh)
  • Tsubasa Chronicle (bleh, dropped at ep11 or 12 whichever was the underwater filler)
  • Tsubasa Chronicle: Tori Kago no Kuni no Himegimi (bleh)
  • Mai-Otome (amusing trainwreck)
  • Shin Kyuuseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken (not my kind of thing)
  • El Cazador de la Bruja (el cazasnore and horrible music editing)
  • Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners (LOVE)
  • Pandora Hearts (liked the comedy and akira ishida, not much else)

Also seen and liked Achilles to Kame.

tldr: Kajiura hasn't been particularly lucky with the greatest anime.

That is true...most of teh anime she makes music for suck... :blood: in my opinion of course.

yeah, whenever I tell a friend about Yuki I have to explain what animes she's composed for, and I always get from them "oh that anime sucks..."

No Wikki, some of them suck big time,it's the truth :XD:
Go see some ratings site for example. Not everything is objective but animation and story are.

http://myanimelist.net/people/5077/Yuki_Kajiura

Btw Kuroshitsuji has too high rating in this site :fwa:
Either it turns out to be pretty good,or it's for the bishies :blood:
(i am actually surpriced because most anime get high ratings in this site :uh..: don't consider anime like Bleach and Naruto though, they are overpopular.)

I want to finish Petit Cossette because I watched only the first OVA and stopped for some reason

You too? :omg: My friend went at it two times and never got to watch the other two. :ohoho: I didn't have this problem.

PS. Petit Cossette (my fav animu ever) and Kara no Kyoukai are obviously the best anime Kajiura scored.

I think I'll second that. :ayashii:

OK, here's my list:

Noir: Mashimo's trademark style. If you need to describe Bee-Train works to someone, just say "It will glue you to the monitor, unless you fall asleep before that". :ohoho: I have come to enjoy the story despite the sloooooooow paaaaace and watched every new episode eagerly (at least it didn't contain "obligatory" Christmas/onsen fillers like many series do :XD: ). IMHO Mashimo really can draw up a good drama, gotta give it to him.
.hack//SIGN: oddly likeable, too, though it took me half the series to begin to understand what's really going on there. But the series is good at showing real people who come online for different reasons, and it was interesting to watch.
Le Portrait de Petite Cossette: :nosebleed: :nosebleed: :nosebleed: But lately Akiyuki Shinbo topped the list one of my favourite anime directors, so I can be subjective. :XD: But how I want him and Yuki to team up one more time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mai-Hime: watched 2 eps so far, but I have a bunch of series to finish yet, so I left it till better times. Seems OK so far, except for character designs which bring me unexplainable discomfort :uh..:
Elemental Gelade: watched ep 1 - the only one I got my hands on so far. Looks watchable enough, but I suspect that Xebec has been terribly slacking off again. :knife: They seem to get ultra-lazy at the very mention of Kajiura having been assigned. :blood:
Tsubasa Chronicle: I love this series, by all power of IMNSHO, despite its slowness and poor animation. Though the second season REALLY annoyed me at some places. The "movie" was ok and animated obviously better. Tokyo Revelations is close to a masterpiece level, though too short to aspire for that. Shunraiki would be great, too... if not for you-know-what. :knife:
El Cazador: got through two eps so far, and I think I'd watch the series even just for the sake of its self-mocking atmosphere. :XD:
Kara no Kyoukai: :nosebleed: :nosebleed: :nosebleed: My respect for Ufotable was high enough without it, but now "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!!"(c) :sohappy:
Pandora Hearts: finished watching yesterday. My opinion's unchanged: great music, really good plot, but Xebec's really asking for some whipping this time :whip: The only thing I gotta give to the director is that he never really trailed off from the manga (it's quite rare nowadays), but the quality of animation and the disbalance of SD techniques almost ruined the impression (although they WERE pure win in ep 20 :ohoho: ). Still, the overall impression is enough for me to look forward to next season (there aren't any chances of PH being handed away to Bones or ufotable, are there? *sigh*)

I sometimes have urges to watch Hokuto no Ken, Yuki's OST makes it feel like it's really something heroic and epic, not just some postapocalyptic beat-em-up it actually is. :XD:
Oh, and I started watching Loveless because of Yuki's songs. It goes slow, because the shounen-aish atmosphere annoys me as hell, and it shifts all the focus from an andoubtedly interesting setting and story. Thankfully, Yuiko-chan is cute enough to make up for Sobi's [pseudo?]gay attitude. :shy:

As to the quality of works Yuki composes for... she said she often has little access to other stages of production, and I find it more and more obvious. "Yuki-san, we're making this cool mecha-mahou-shoujo hybrid with epic themes", "Yuki-san, we're screening this nice sky pirate manga that one of the men behind Star Ocean 2 wrote in his spare time", "Yuki-san, we're up to a TV version of that popular manga that is said to spin Carroll in his grave up to 10000 turns/sec"...
Yuki eagerly signs in, and......
and.....
and.....
The producers consider their job 90% done :uh..: so do half the staff, for that matter. :blood:
(yes, I'm mostly bitching about Xebec again :ohoho: )

I watched these anime because of Yuki...

Kara no Kyoukai movie 1 and 2: I think I'm still lost at it's story.. xD Gonna continue it... :uh..: Maybe it might turn out "nicer"

Ookami Kakushi ep. 1 - I didn't like the "clingy" girl, but I think it's kinda nice too.. well, maybe.. :uh..:

^I think these are the only ones for now... xD Because I listen to Kajiura music not because of the anime, but the music itself... :sohappy:

Well, the 5th movie does look rather confusing, I know a lot of people who were left with the "WTF?" impression even after the end. Though I found it interesting, too.
if I were to point out the chapter I liked least, it would probably be ch 4... There was just next to nothing happening compared to the other chapters. And I'm not enthusiastic about
zombies
.

Oh me not enjoying the 5th movie has little to do with it's plot TBH, it's more of a presentation issue. Not as polished and "ambitious/pretentious" as some of the other movies - IMHO it's just shounen (with some QUALITY) visuals with DEEP words.

Sometimes I think they had the same budget as on the other 1h movies.

i've watched
Kuroshitsuji - learned of Kalafina and loved them because of Lacrimosa
Pandora Heart - love Lacie and Everytime you Kiss me
.hack//Sign - way back i forgot what year... loved the soundtrack

i've watched
Kara no Kyoukai and So Ra No Wo To because of Kalafina...

I want to watch Eve no Jikan movie because of "I have a dream" by Kalafina

and by Kalafina, i also mean Yuki Kajiura... :shy:

Only watched Kara no Kyoukai movies, It was truly masterpiece!
Yuki Kajiura's epic scores there instantly turned me into her fan :shy:
