Kalafina in Budokan 28 February - 01 March 2015

Please George, it's a common thing. With the amount of artists doing lives and other events that could be held there, it's not unusual for an artist to plan/book a live event many months in advance. Otherwise they won't get the place. Anyway, congrats for Kalafina to finally can held a live in Budokan!

I assume it's such a coveted/high demand venue that they need to book a slot so early! I guess it means people have plenty of time to make travel arrangements, so if I were able to go to this (I wish I could, honestly!) I'd be glad of being told so far in advance.

But yeah...the Budokan. I know it's not the *biggest* venue in the country, but it's like a UK group saying "we're playing Wembley!" Quite an achievement, that. :cheer:

What does everyone here think of Budokan. I've never been there before, but I have heard the obvious feedback saying that the sound isn't good there. It's not a proper concert hall after all. Is it worth going to Japan for this?

Also, no light sticks will mean it's going to be a sea of black. lol.

I can't remember this coming up in the red/blue album thread, so might as well ask here instead: what was the rationale behind the tracklistings in the end? I usually feel all smug for spotting patterns in this sort of stuff, but when I checked the final announcement it doesn't look like they were ordered by album/era or anything like that. Maybe the two CDs were arranged to group songs of two different themes/atmospheres together? If that's the case, doing a 'red' and 'blue' live show basing the setlist on the two albums makes a lot of sense and would be a really great experience.

Unless it's just me reading too far into things again. :leaf:

^they've actually explained it in interviews and kajiura via twitter.

Red: high(er) energy songs
Blue: more relaxing, ballads

IIRC. I'll double check in a bit.

Edit:
More accurate post below

@Hatouchan ah, thanks. I haven't been keeping up with that stuff (even some of the threads on here move along to fast for me to follow) but that makes a lot of sense. In which case, I approve of how they've done it!

That's pretty much sold those two albums to me now though...eek. :desksweat:

I think Hikaru explained it also in the Washikazi thing? The secret agent interview thing with the red frog and rain boots incident :XD:

I just knew about this, thanks Hatouchan! Anyway, the tracklist doesn't really reflect this statement, with Magia, sprinter, and signal in Blue Edition :XD:

@Martin
Ok. I've checked.

Hikaru explains it in the nico nico live. The colours have this aspect to them:
Red: where you can feel the energy, energises you
Blue: put you at ease, relaxing

Hikaru says the concept is the same for both though. Color wise, it has those aspects. It's just that if you were to sort the feel (worldview) of kalafina, this would be how you sort them. Though she says there's no absolute.

Based on what Hikaru says, Signal feels blue to me, actually. Particularly keiko's part. It gives me the image of the sky (lyric wise too), falling through it. But magia is definitely a red to me. Maybe the truth is they ran out of blue songs they can call their best.

Many Congratulations to the girls! Wish I could see them but I'm so far =____= . The colour discussion sounds familiar , considering I just did a mini-dissertation on colour and emotion :study: ( Geography degree= wide critique of EVERYTHING ). I would have swapped Hikaru Senritsu as blue and Sprinter as red. Hikari no Senritsu always calms me when I'm commuting back home, and sprinter helps me run faster when I'm catching buses and trains :XD:

I read in Wikipedia that artists that perform at the Budokan tend to release recordings of the concert. So I'm guessing the chances of a blu ray release are pretty high.

I entered the one held for album purchases. Results will be in at 1pm tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Shouldn't have missed the FJC lottery. *cries*

One point against it will be that most songs have already been released on BD before. One for it will be that it's the Budokan. IT'S THE BUDOKAN. Not releasing this milestone concert will be like not releasing a BD for your 5 hour long, 20th anniversary concert featuring a ton of guest performers for the best concert of anyone's lifetime. Oh wait.

I'm still bitter, especially since I saw it live.

At least you saw it!! I can only imagine the epicness that was vol#10 for her 20th anniversary -still shocked that they didn't release it :(
