not sure if this performance was shared before (maybe i didn't search right, if so, my apologies)

i had not listened to this song or performance before, it feels like it is a challenging song with a lot of switching of voices so she rocks just for that
It hasn't yet been shared here, so thanks for sharing it. Great to see Yuriko in a centre-stage, solo context outside of FictionJunction, for a large event with a full orchestra, not just a small acoustic thing.

The song is not easy to sing, obviously.

I think aspects of the song stayed around her register bridges so she was constantly lightening her breath pressure to navigate which was not easy to do in a steady moving song with lots of lyrics too.

She didn't sing the lines of the chorus legato, so she had to take a lot of quick breaths in between each phrase (I am not familiar with the original). She also had to do a lot of continuous register and placement changes, and the song had key changes as well.

I do think the style in she usually sings doesn't lend itself to this kind of song for her, even though the entire song is completelyl within her range. She's not someone that sings consistently in her chest/mix range and in a lead situation. For Kajiura's music, she's always changing resonance and register, and spends a lot of time in head voice, and is also quiet for long sections, then comes in and goes silent again or does little additions often in head voice.

Tbh first time i heard Yuriko sing with an orchestra, and it sound weird 😅 the song melody is nothing special too. It feel like the orchestra is disconnected from the vocals.

She doesn't get to sing lead much
I have some links to her solo works.

Just to be clear, that Koi Kaze is an idolm@ster live from 2022, not the new Fate. She did one more song in that concert from what I'm seeing in the setlist. (Oh, it's the You're stars shine on me that @genesiƨ linked already.)

Koi Kaze
Music: Go Shiina
Lyrics: Yuriko Kaida

Probably not a livestream, considering that concert had a CD/BD release by now (Edit: Or did it? o_0 I can only see a CD release.). Only parts of the refrain are rough to me, in the rest she sounds mostly great, and like herself (yes, her screeching certain notes isn't new to this performance).

PS. Jfc, I forgot how many idolm@ster releases there are every year...

I don't think it was just the mixing, which affected everyone the same (I would imagine). Her voice just lacked the power and presence I was expecting. In fact, the instrumentation wasn't exactly heavy.
This was better than the 2023 performance in my opinion.

he sounds stronger when speaking (before and after the song) than when singing. The video that auto-played after had her singing backing vocals to another singer https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1y44y1x7Vz?spm_id_from=333.788.player.switch&p=2 who sounded more poppy. I just feel Yuriko's softer, constantly-shifting-dynamics style is less suited for action songs like these.

That's my point. The instrumentation was subdued in the verses which fit her singing. The choruses (where the instruments ramped up in intensity) needed a commensurate ramping up in the energy of her vocals and stage activity, and that's where her voice was getting lost in the mix.
