Yuki Kajiura LIVE vol.#9

Hmm yeah, Sony songs could be a problem. But it's not impossible to find a solution:
1) they might work out a licensing agreement
2) they might release two separate volumes like Animelo did one time
3) they could do a release with just the Victor songs...

BTW I'm planning to be in Tokyo in early September for Maaya Sakamoto's musical so I'm going to try getting to this live as well. Just need to somehow enroll in the fanclub before the 30th...

They released many of the previous YK concerts

Two out of eight so far (or three out of nine if you count Vol 4 as two lives). Fascinating. :uh..:

She will mix songs of Sony Music with Flying Dogs!!

I'll note again, she's been doing that since Vol 2 at least (Main Theme of Petite Cossette and Houseki). Houseki remake even made it into FJ's album! Granted, we don't really know all the quirks behind the licensing process, and how much blood was actually shed to get those songs into Vol 2 DVD. For all we know, it might depend on the demands, and if they rose exponentially with each additional song footage, it would create problems. And we know that SME, for one, does love money. :knife:

Come to think of it, if this concern is valid, it might hold a clue to the general lack of live DVDs. The first volumes recapped Yuki's heritage up to 2008, where Aniplex works were actually far and far between. But in recent years, most of her OSTs are released under Sony, and she naturally includes more of them into her setlists. Which leads us to the point above... Though I really wish to be mistaken about the whole thing. :uh..:

They're going to play Decretum on a live
They're going to hire an orchestra to play Surgam identitem
They're going to play Salva nos again for sure

/me goes to cry to a corner :touched:

Two songs!! And Houseki, since the release of everlasting songs, was labelled under FD, so just one. But, like you said, since she uses the music for Fate/Zero, RHH and Madoka in her lives, the volumes are very Sony Dogs. 70% FD, 20% SM, 10% others (and if Sony continues hiring Kajiura, vol. 20 will be totally Sony Music). JVC won't pay more.

Yes, talking about licensing is a mess. I still wonder why the Mai-hime/otome songs are treated like Flying Dogs songs (DVDv2, DVDv4 and CD). And why the same company used where the lights are for the ending credits in Vol2 DVD.

Actually the fanclub members do get preference but there will also be a general sale in July. So it's not that limited. They released many of the previous YK concerts, and Maaya Sakamoto's quite special live last December, so why not this one?

You've got a point...hopefully you're right! :TdT:

I think the Sony discussion is close to the mark, though. Sony might figure, "Hey - we've already got our own Kajiura act in the form of Kalafina, so why bother licensing all these obscure anime songs for DVD? We've been plugging Kala all this time, they and their songs more popular than FJ and Kajiura songs alone, so let's stick with that."

Yeah, even if you count the live CD in, it won't be even a half of the lives she had. :uh..:

@Kazado: As far as I know the Mai Hime and Otome OSTs are Lantis and not Sony, so maybe that's why.

True, we've now got Sword Art Online too, so next year, Petit Cossette, Kara no Kyoukai, Rekishi Hiwa Historia, Sekai Satoyama, Madoka, Fate/Zero and SAO can easily make a setlist full, so not vol 20 but 11 (or even 10!) :XD:

Never said Mai/HnK were from Sony nor Flying.

Well, there are classics from Bee Train times to consider as well, which Yuki will stop including on the same day when Elton John completely stops performing Your Song live. :ohoho: Greatest hits are greatest hits, they always make their way into a setlist. Besides, FictionJunction also go on, and since they are the main vocal force at the concerts, including their new and already released songs is a no-brainer. :tea: So I don't think we'll ever get a SME-exlusive concert... unless Yuki decides to do a "Flying Dog seal" live or something like that. :XD:

LOL :ohoho:

And I've been thinking, with the details about vol.#9 considered, I guess FJ album it's not on any plans... :leaf:

With seven new songs behind, an album is due, and I still expect it this year. I don't expect Kalafina's fourth album befor next spring, since they also release an average of three singles before that (there are clues hinting that Symphonia may have been planned as the third single before After Eden... Maybe due to RHH2 OST and Madoka launching around the same time SME decided against close single releases). So far they have one, so supposing a likely Madomovie theme and a probable SAO OP/ED/insert requires enough room within this year to make an album release unlikely.

:TdT:

If we don't get YK live vol. 9 DVD, at least give us FJ Everlasting Songs 2 :touched:

this is purely my opinion

am very curious with the first concert 'cause IMHO, that will/might determine the possible release of a live dvd of the 3-day concert...

since most of fj's song were already compiled in everlasting songs... that's like 15 songs, but am pretty sure they won't perform the yuuka-vocal songs so the number's reduced to 13
...plus the 2 fjwakana songs from hokuto no ken ost
...plus the 3 single title songs
...plus the 2 b-side of the singles
...plus gatherway
...plus eternal blue

a total of 22 choices for the setlist of the first concert.

and 12 songs have already been featured in the dvds

and most of us don't want to see repeated stuffs in dvds... but still!!! me wants DVD

specially to see FJ pulling out a tokyo konsei song of like how they did it with the image theme of Xenosaga II, a song of storm and fire...ahhhh... those were the good days
i assumed they will, because yuri kasahara will also perform in the third day.

I just got the crazy thought of they releasing a DVD with zodiacal sign, everlasting song, salva nos, Yume no Tsubasa, angel gate...and no eternal blue :XD:

@nick and george: guess I got too pessimistic, but somehow I still doubt they release an album before vol.#9 and perform it on the first day. But they might announce an album by the middle of the year, maybe in vol.#9 or right after it.

They can also sing covers of Yuki's old stuff. Fields of Hope please
