Yeah, not the most flattering photo of our ladies, but it's expected as this seems to be end of a hard workday, after a lot of singing, and they're definitely looking tired/spent. They are also lightly made-up, not stage ready. It's also a photo taken with a phone, I suspect. A camera would handle the lights much better.
Joelle especially, but also Kaori, got the brunt, and Joelle's hair (pulled back from her face, scattered) and her eyebrows/ lashes look almost grey in the light from this phone shot.
On the other hand, I'm looking forward to the harmony support for Yuuka's singing. Her singing is gentle and softly emotional, so that will moderate the backing vocalists to sing similarly. We'll have a contrast of Yuuka's gently-sung songs, Joelle's emotional leads, and the hardcore belt-y energy of Kaori's and EMIKO's leads.
I mean, these are women in their 40s, that's what real women without cosmetic procedures look like without makeup/with minimal make-up.

That's the fact. Especially on the cosmetic procedures part. Real women indeed. We have 3 women in their 40s (maybe early 50s for one), one about to hit 40, and two in their 20s.
I prefer the often more natural look in many Japanese artists (though I can also appreciate their made-up fashion vibes as well) to the almost artificial/doll-like, same-y look of some other industries, where cosmetic procedures are widely demanded to even get in the door - for both males and females.

What makes "Orchard Special" so uh...special? What's the difference? I read that the #12 was Orchard Special too. Is it emphatically BGM? In this case how Yuuka fits this?

But they ARE close-aged. and they know each other since before Noir came out which means at least 2000 (Yuriko was main bgm vocalist for Noir ost), so 26 years, almost whole of Kajiura's composing career.
