Would it make you recommend a faithful anime remake adaptation over the first adaptation?
Oh, absolutely. I’m not entirely sure what or when it was, but something about the narrative just clicked with me this time around and I found myself loving it. Maybe it was the fact that it wasn’t incomplete like the adaptation, but regardless it was an absolute rollercoaster.

If it does get a remake, then I hope its well-paced and understands how to use its resources, because imo the whole story would need about sixty episodes as a minimum to be cohesive, not to mention how bizarre parts of the second half can get. I’d also deeply miss Mochizuki’s detailed facial expressions, which is possibly the highlight of her (quite pretty) art style. They could try and recreate them, of course, but the manga really does make them hit.

So I’d probably watch it. Especially if they get Kajiura and the original voice cast back; I’d love to see their interpretations of some of the manga’s later scenes. But at the end of the day it’s all hypothetical. Then again, I can hope lol.

The continuation of the demo of the unreleased song🌙* :゚

This little snippet of an unreleased song has been playing on repeat for almost 5-10 minutes as I worked. It paints a world already (though I don't know what the lyrics are saying). I can't wait to hear the entire thing when it's finished. 🌹 🌹 🌹

Madonna's Ray of Light album

apparently nearly all my childhood favorites were produced by the same man and I've only found this out like more than 25 years later
tbh child me really had no business listening to these songs but i was an MTV kid when MTV was still playing music lmao. the lyrics are okay but i listened to these when i was like 6-8 years old and somehow they stuck with me until now

gave YKL21 another try... i am just not a fan of any of the singers' voice sans Kokia :( it also only makes me want to write a longer rant about the costumes and staging lmao
also i really wanted to like black rose because i think the instrumentals and the verses are really cool. but the chorus maaaaannnn

You didn't like any of the guest singers performing - JUNNA, ASCA? What FJ ever performance of theirs have you liked? Or you just don't like them, period? Does this include Emiko?

Or did you include the regular singers in your analysis? 🤔
okia :( it also only makes me want to write a longer rant about the costumes and staging lmao
Please go ahead. 😅
but the chorus maaaaannnn
What about it? Good, bad?

Give examples! 😁

If I have to rate the vocalists in YKL 21 based on how my personal preference of their tone: Kokia >>>> Emiko = Yuriko (but Yuriko got like negative singing part in this live lmao) > Kaori = ASCA = Joelle >> Lino Leia >>>>>>>>>>>>> JUNNA. like I hate aimer's tone and her hot potato in mouth singing but she at least sings. JUNNA yells. i'd like to think that Kajiura invites Yuuka back because she herself had enough with these subpar Yuuka covers. Now that I listened to it again, I am kinda okay with ASCA's cover of Kioku no Mori. Her other song is still a snoozefest though.

long rant about staging that should actually be posted in the actual YKL21 thread:
The frames on the background, they practically did nothing. They were just there as some random ornaments on the stage. Barely got included in the shots as most of the time the singers stand on the front stage. They could've done so much more with the concept. They could do just 5 frames and have Emiko started singing black rose on the front stage and Yuriko and Kaori behind the frames or Emiko behind the middle frame, Kaori and Yuriko on the sides and then they walked down the stairs . They could do it for the chorus singers for LiSA's song as well. They could be utilized for the singers' entrance. So much potential, yet it was wasted. This reminds me of the awful hanging logo for YKL20 - that logo was so ugly that the cameramen avoided getting it in the shots. Not a big fan of the shots taken from the camera rail/slider. Shots taken from lower side are imho ugly most of the time and should barely be used.

The outer fabric on Joelle's skirt. MY GOD THAT THING WAS SO UGLY AND CHEAP LOOKING. that's like the shiniest plastic polyester that shouldn't be worn as a dress or skirt, period. I would cut off the hanging white shoulder on her dress, it wasn't needed and was an eyesore. The stylist definitely has some weird vendetta against Joelle. I actually kinda liked Yuriko's dress in the sense that I love the silhouette and the design even though it's just her YKL18/19 dress but slightly better executed, but she was the one who looked the most drowned in that stage because the only thing that caught and reflected light on her dress was her sleeves. The stylist should've added that silver fabric on her skirt a little bit more to the front. That extra layer was completely on her side and they barely caught any light. That silver fabric actually does something for her dress. Definitely the best of the bunch. Kaori's top was okay because the corset top actually fits her but again, that cheap silver fabric that everyone has on their dresses was an eyesore. Really don't see the point of that silver faux skirt being weirdly asymmetrical, as well as weirdly not covering the whole of her pants. At least it looked like skirt on Kaori's dress, unlike Leia and her plastic balloon diaper. Emiko's dress looked like something from her actual wardrobe that the stylist barely altered by stitching that cheap silver fabric as a train. ASCA, Kokia, and JUNNA definitely wore something from their personal wardrobe.

Their dresses are definitely on the cheaper side in the sense that they looked like they looked like they don't have lining fabric on the inside because most of the time they looked like they were wearing cotton as their base dresses because cotton absorbs sweat and isn't hot to wear but it doesn't reflect light and it's a big no for a stage costume. That's why the stylist added those plastic shiny fabric, so the light can reflect on some parts of their dresses, therefore making them can be seen and not swallowed by the stage and/or lighting. Kalafina's dresses on the other hand most of the time have lining fabrics. That's why their dresses are more structured/looked more sturdy. The lining fabric is cotton, but the outer part of the dresses are more expensive polyester/rayon/organza/brocades because they shined but they don't shine as much as the cheap silver fabric the stylist used for YKL21. Because Kalafina had more budget for their dresses, they also do whole cotton dresses (or likely polyester mix but with higher cotton percentage) without lining fabrics but the stylist put some beadings on the dresses and the beads helped reflecting the light on stage. I'd like to think that the stylist actually know how to do stage costuming. It's just a clear difference in budget so she/they had to cut corners. And she/they definitely had something against Joelle.

about black rose: idk. i just don't like the chorus. it ain't bad. at least i am okay with the song and don't actively hate it like i hate practically every other new Kajiura songs released after Kajifes lmao

anyway back to the actual topic of the thread:
Kizuato and Lacrimosa from Kalafina Anniversary Live 2025. There's something in the way Wakana sang the final chorus in Kizuato and the verses after the first chorus in Lacrimosa that actually scratched the itch in my brain in a really good way.
