The word you're looking for is "-dan". It's a rank for black belt martial arts practitioners and it's generally accepted that shodan (first rank) practitioners are qualified to teach and, as such, should be addressed as "sensei".
The highest rank is usually the hachidan (eighth rank)...equivalent to a grandmaster of sorts.
