Shirobako was fantastic. The second-to-last episode squeezed a Manly Tear out of me, honestly. It's not often we see an anime show in the style of a real-life sitcom where the characters are adults and have grown-up problems either, so that was a bonus. It just got everything just right.

The most amusing part was the episode where there's a side-character who's such a blatant Hideaki Anno cameo that they might as well have got the man himself in to voice the character. :XD: There are probably LOADS of in-jokes and characters that you'd have to be a real industry insider to know about. I'd like to think it meant the studio had a lot of fun making it.

I don't have screencaps to hand because I watched it via Crunchyroll (hooray for being able to watch something via a legal channel!), but the studio where they got the Third Aerial Girls' Squad soundtrack recorded was a dead-ringer for the studio in Shinjuku where a lot of the Kala and FJ songs were done. There was this distinctive brown wood panelling on the walls that I recognised immediately from pics I'd seen on Yuki's and Koichi's twitter feeds. I'm guessing they wanted to depict somewhere that's frequently used by anime studios, so went for that one. e.g.:

But yeah. It's addictive, and really worth watching. :goodjob:

Just started, I'm six episodes in and I'm really enjoying it greatly.
