Shingeki no Kyojin & Its soundtrack

Well, the Guilty Crown soundtrack was also under 20 tracks (19 in fact), but the songs are on average about 4 minutes each, with nothing below 2 minutes. Whereas, for comparison, Yuki's soundtracks for Pandora Hearts and Madoka had many tracks between 1 and 2 minutes.

^ oh I see, but that's a relatively new trend of Yuki, before Kara no kyoukai she used to make longer ost tracks in general, I bet she got used to the "music fit to the scene" logic of ufotable, in comparison with the "scene fit to the music" that Bee-Train was following.

In the first logic, the composer makes the music to exactly fit the scenes (including SFX-tracks) while in the second the composer makes whatever he/she like and thinks that could fit to the anime, and then the director chops and changes the music as he likes to make it fit to the scene

Wow we havent heard preview of Yuki ost since knk, im jealous :cry:

the ost is great! :dote: but I am afraid these insert songs are out of place :S

surprising its below 20 tracks for a standalone OST

el cazador ost 1 is also below 20

..."scene fit to the music" that Bee-Train was following.

I like this one better. :tea:

I don't like the vocal tracks because I don't like English lyrics; the same reason I hated TWEWY's ost <different composer> and always turned down the volume when playing

I love the rest of the ost.

I've actually liked Hiroyuki Sawano's vocal tracks far more than his instrumental tracks in the past, and I feel the same way here. That being said, the vocal tracks here are a bit weaker than Guilty Crown's, while the instrumentals are a lot stronger, so that's evened the gap a bit.

The previews sound pretty awesome, especially Bauklotze (I suspect it's gratuitous German? But since I don't speak German the pronunciation doesn't bother me). Looks like I might be getting this soundtrack after all--the power of standalone releases + track previews

@george
Yeah, I'm aware of this, but I don't think Yuki's Bee Train compositions were the norm for anime soundtracks. (I could be wrong though). Her music was like an active participant in the show's creation--.hack//Sign took it to the logical extreme and felt like one long, epic music video (that I still enjoyed the heck out of, I'll add).

@joel_jman
I agree Yuki's instrumental tracks were stronger during her Bee Train days (Noir and .hack being the standouts). Her vocal tracks have remained excellent though (Sis Puella Magica anyone?)

I think they're the same people he hired for Ao no Exorcist and Guilty Crown (and others), but it's not the Tokyo Konsei. The AnE VGMDB page lists individual singers for the choir tracks, so I'm guessing it's a small, special choir Sawano put together.

^ Those people making the threats are stupid, since there's no connection between the anime character and the real Japanese person apart from their appearance. Dot pixis is defending the human kind (whicch are indeed for some reason German) against a thread that might make them extinct (and they have no choice but to kill them) but the real Japanese person was a war criminal, humans can live with each other, but their leaderships dont allow them to, the same doesnt happen with the Titans. Also 2 episodes beck when there were people that wanted to quit the army because of fear, Dot Pixis didnt allow the other general to kill them as traitors, instead let them leave alive. I think Kotaku would have acted as the other general in a similar situation.
