I keep hearing the phrase shaved ice, yet I'm still none the wiser to what it actually is. That image doesn't give any insights either.
 
shaved ice is literally ice shavings with a lot of condiments put on top of it :XD: in this particular one, you can see the azuki (red bean) as well as the condensed milk and cane syrup. iirc, this was taken in taipei (???) so the particular term for it would be "baobing (刨冰)"
 
isn't it actually shaved ice cream? because from what i tasted before it is softer than normal shaved ice
 
interesting -- that would explain the textural look of the dessert, actually :ayashii: i've only ever seen/tasted shaved ice myself, and not ice cream. now i kinda want sweets....

Some people call it fluffed ice or snow shaved ice here.
That kind of ice shaved is quite popular lately in my area xD

Salju dessert, Fluff ice, and so on :XD:
