New FictionJunction album "elemental" and YK Live vol. #11

I've thought about it some more... and I'm over my earlier disappointment. In light of all of Yuki's other work, and how little she sleeps... I'll take four songs over her working until she collapses.

^ well bare in mind the the current releases (OSTs) are finished months now, so now that she was working on FJ album she basically has only Hanako to Ann as "other work" to work on, but I agree that she needs some rest and periods with few things to work on so that she can relax. btw she probably didnt go to NY just for the mastering but to have fun too :XD:

^I know she probably wasn't going just for the mastering. Just saying, the way you and Grunty talked about it sounded like a pot shot at her only making four new recordings.

Maybe they should've pushed the release date back. That might've given Yuki time to write more songs. I suspect Kalafina stuff never really stops though--two more singles and they'll probably announce another album. :XD:

No its was for going to NY to master the only 4 new recordings. Comparatively, in Ev. Songs, 4 were the songs that were untouched, all the others were re-recorded/new so it was worth the trip to NY :) (and when she made ev. songs she was busy with Kalafina, at that time, too since 7th H released a bit later too)

about pushing the release date I completely dissagree, they should have instead released it the year after stone cold, so she could make more new songs, dragging it for 5 years probably made her uninterested in the group in some way. I just hope the next FJ single releases soon to make up for the album.

Well, too bad about lack of new recordings, but there's not much we can do about it. The last album got full re-recordings because the songs were FJ covering songs sang by other singers. That's not the case here.

Well, yeah, that's another plan. I didn't think about simply releasing an album earlier and getting it done with. I don't think that's why she's "lost interest" in FJ. I think it's because she's focused on Kalafina right now.

I will be in Japan on the time where the only YK Live I can possibly catch is the YUUKA-centric one. YUUKA, well... she's one of my least favorite FJ actually, but this is the only chance I can get to watch YK.. and Yuriko Kaida and Hikaru at least, although they are just chorus (and no Keiko!!) :(

Has anyone been to one of the FJ YUUKA lives here? Was it worth it?

^ I've only been to the FictionJunction CLUB LIVE at Zepp Tokyo, YK Live vol. #10 "Kaji fes", and seen Yuuka Nanri at Animelo Summer Live 2012, Animelo Summer Live 2013 and Animax Musix 2013, so my Yuuka Nanri bias is showing.

Yuki Kajiura's smile is enough to make a live worthwhile, Yuriko Kaida is always brilliant, Korenaga-san likewise.

Is the live you are considering one that will include Rie Akagi? A concert is worth it for her alone also.

If you can get to it, you will not regret it. Japanese concerts are so polite, quiet for the performers and appreciative after each song.

@ Sakurachan
I've been to Yuuka's FJY, solo artist and Anisong-related lives, and enjoyed them but I'll admit, I have a bias towards Yuuka. It's not a surprise that she's like marmite among Kajiura family fans - either you like her or dislike her but setting her vocals aside, the music is more important. As an "objective" advice and not to mean it as either an encouragement or discouragement of sorts, if you like FJY's songs, then do go! You won't regret it! :goodjob:

But if you don't, then I suggest saving your cash for a concert you really want to attend. I doubt Kajiura is going to stop holding YK Lives any time soon so there's always an opportunity to attend one some day. I myself wait for years to pick and choose which specific lives I want to go to since my situation doesn't allow for me to attend those events whenever I like. In the end though, it's still up to you. ;)

Anyway as a last note, I agree with Kugayama. Concerts in Japan are definitely worth it even if it's just for the experience alone.

@Kugayama: Ah~ Yuki's passionate keyboard playing, Korenaga-san and Konno Hitoshi too :nosebleed: I'm not familiar with Akagi Rie so I quickly checked some youtube videos and I like her interpretations..she's very good!

@Keiri: To be fair she has the best dansu among the girls :p No really, she's good and my favorite FJY song is Nowhere. There's just something about her vocals... she tends to be too nasal (Hikaru too) Well...I know that Yuki and the band should really be more than enough, but somehow the lack of Keiko puts me off...I'd really think long and hard about this.

Thanks to the both of you!

@ Sakurachan
Sorry for going off-topic here but are you going to LisAni! Live? It's held somewhat near(-ish) the FJY live dates and Kalafina are performing on the Sunday Stage. If you'd like to attend concerts while you're in Japan around those dates, then LisAni! Live with that line-up is one event I would highly recommend for you, dare I say even more so than FJY. This coming from me, whose favorite Kajiura family vocalist is Yuuka by the way. :V:

Haven't listened to storm for a very long time... I remember how I loved it when heard it for the first time...so...yes...now I'm interested in this album.. :dote: .

I also feel the similarity to Tsuioku..(arrangement-wise..yes! the way that the instrumental sounds more 'tense' during the hook) and the flute is just quite similar..not that obvious O_O. However, compared to recent Yuki's works, I think of Hikaru's verse in Neverending. (But well...she won't be in FJ album...lol.) And the hook is more similar to Serenato than to Tsuioku IMO. Am I weird that I want Keiko to sing the hook?...O_O...but that won't sound like Yuki's style..lol.

@Keiri
Actually...I joined the pre-sale lottery for LisAni but I lost so I got a little unmotivated to go, but the line-up is just so good that I'm thinking of getting tickets on the general sale. Mmm let's see..

My first reaction was--what? But I thought about it... and I'd prefer Keiko on chorus over her on verse (sadly, if she gets a lead part, verse is far more likely). The verse sounds perfect for Kaori... which means Kaori-Wakana is almost guaranteed. The sad (?) thing is, that combo would be perfect for the song... except it's been overused to death already.

Grunty posted the track length in the Historia thread~

Wow. She looks so great on that pic!

I have to say, she is really timeless in most of her pics, as if she barely goes old, lol.
