Random diary "December 2025"​

　The year 2025 is almost over. It felt like it had suddenly gotten cold since December began, but I don't feel it as cold as usual for this time of year, perhaps because my body has gotten used to it. However, the maximum temperature in Tokyo tomorrow is expected to be 7 degrees, so the real winter season is yet to come.

　Well, the "Yuki Kajiura LIVE Special Edition ~ Christmas Dinner Show 2025" held on Sunday the 21st was a great success and ended without a hitch. Thank you to all the gentlemen and ladies who came to the event in their beautiful attire. As members of the Kajiura Orchestra, I hope you enjoyed this different YKL than usual.

　Having known the troupe leader Kajiura for many years, and with his strong sense of service, I had anticipated that the first YKL dinner show would not simply be a YKL in a different location, but would be full of elaborate productions. The most wonderful moment was listening carefully to a medley of songs by each singer, performed by the leader on piano alone, right behind me. Each singer beautifully transformed Kaji's self-covers of classic songs into their own, and I was captivated by the performance.

　(By the way, during normal YKL, we Front Band Members work, work, and work, so we rarely have a chance to rest, but after this performance, the FBMs were all saying that they wished the normal YKL would have a segment with just piano and singing, and it wasn't because we wanted to take it easy! ...I'll just write that down.)

　Next year's YKL " Yuki Kajiura LIVE vol.#22 ~precious pieces~ " has already been announced. It's been a while since we've seen YUUKA (Minamizato Yuka) as guest vocalist, since the two-day Nakano Sunplaza concert in 2014, when heavy snow fell. I'm already looking forward to seeing her perform this and that song.

"　I am truly grateful that I am able to make a living from music, even at this age. I'm ashamed to say that when I moved to Tokyo at 18, I started out in a rundown, four-and-a-half-tatami-mat apartment where snow would blow in through the cracks in the windows and pile up on my pillow. I was a naive young man, but now, at this age, I can make a living from the music I love, so I am nothing short of an incredibly lucky man who has had his dreams come true. I would like to once again be grateful for the many encounters and partings that have nourished me as the person I am today, and for both the fun and the hard times I've experienced.
