Konnichiwa to all you lovely mina-san at canta-per-me.net! :hi:

My name starts with the letter "A" and my family name is Chan, so you may call me a-chan. I'm female and I'm from Malaysia. The truth is I've been following this forum for a few weeks now, sorry I only got around to introducing myself now. I'm a little shy... and this is my first time participating in a forum too. I don't really have many friends who are interested in Japanese music, much less Kajiura Yuki-san's music, so stumbling upon this forum with so many people around the world sharing the same passion is like discovering a pot of gold. I really really wanted to be a part of this community! :plz:

A little bit about myself... I'm a bit of an otaku and I love to draw (although I suck at it :ohoho:). I play the violin, piano and guitar and I also love photography and tea :tea:I studied Beginner Japanese for about a year some time ago, but so much time has passed since then that I've already given most of what I learnt back to my sensei. But I intend to enrol in a part time Japanese course next month so I'm currently studying my butt off for the inevitable placement test just so I don't have to start from the very beginning :study:

I fell in love with Kajiura Yuki-san's music back when I watched Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome many years ago. Back then I didn't know she did live performances, so I only listened to her soundtracks. And then I discovered FictionJunction two months ago and I fell in love all over again :dote: From then on I watched as many of FJ's lives as I could find on YouTube, bought the vol.#9 DVD and the elemental album and also every single concert pamphlet on sale at CDJapan (both hardcopy and also the e-books). Now FJ and the Madoka Rebellion soundtrack are all I listen to, I'm so hopelessly addicted :desksweat: I love all four of FJ's vocalists, but I'm probably more biased towards Kaori because I love her passionate singing during vol.#4's Hanamori no Oka

As for Kalafina, I have yet to venture far into their songs yet. Currently I have only listened to Magia and Hikari Furu. Hikari Furu is one of my favourite songs:innocent:

Sorry my introduction became so long haha. I'd love to get to know all of you! And maybe we can meet up for one of the YK LIVEs in the future! I'd kill to go to next year's, but I don't really know how to get tickets since I don't have any friends in Japan who could help :touched: Maa, I guess I'll find a way when that time comes haha.

That's all for now. Doozo yoroshiku onegai shimasu! :bye:

(Random trivia: I'm shorter than Keiko at 150.8 cm :...:)

Welcome A-chan, it sounds like you have made a lot of purchases!

It would be good if you can get to a live show in Japan some day as they are really special events.

I have only discovered Yuki Kajiura and her music since seeing FictionJunction at Animelo Summer Live 2009 on youtube.

Feel free to ask any questions about Yuki Kajiura's music, her singers and musicians here, as everyone here likes to help provide answers!

Thank you very much mina-san for all your warm welcome!

@HimeWakana: Thank you! I will definitely enjoy my stay here. Yoroshiku ne~!

@george1234: Thank you so much for approving!

@Kugayama: Yes, FJ has been evil to my pocket :ohoho: I wanted to get all their past albums and lives too, but when I got my vol.#9 DVD and elemental album the customs duties were a shock to me. Malaysian customs charges inflated rates for express shipping services, so I've been trying to hold back from purchasing any more until I can go to Japan.

From what I see there are lots of Kalafina fans here. Do you have any Kalafina songs you like that you can recommend to me? :)

hi @a-chan
welcome to the forums \(^0^

Kaori is also my favorite among the vocalists (#^0^#) have you tried listening to her solo works? she recently released her 2nd solo album Colors, do check it out if you're interested. Also her sound horizon songs

Yes, FJ has been evil to my pocket :ohoho:

Relatively not if you've been purchasing Kalafina's or the recent OSTs bundled in Bluray Boxes :knife:

For Kalafina songs, I'd recommend my favorites: sprinter, Lacrimosa, Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa, Consolation, to the beginning among others

You are doing well if you are already planning to visit Japan (it's addictive, I warn you).

I'll have to re-listen to Kalafina's discography before giving you my recomendations - I'm still yet to attend a full concert of theirs.

@joel_jman: Konnichiwa! Yes I have listened briefly to the samples from Kaori's Colors album, but not Sound Horizon. Sound Horizon seems a little bit complicated, I heard they have lots of singers? And thank you for your Kalafina songs recommendation! I'll check those out :innocent:

@Kugayama: Yes I want to attend a YK LIVE at least once (although I think if I am able make it once I'll want to go a second, third, fourth time... :TdT:). Have you attended a YK LIVE before?

^ a-chan, I missed YK Live vol. #9 days 2 and 3, but attended the FictionJunction CLUB LIVE @ Zepp Tokyo and YK Live vol. #10 "Kaji fest", plus other shows where Kalafina, Chiaki Ishikawa, Yuuka Nanri, Aira Yuuki and Kaori Oda sang. (Chiaki Ishikawa was the vocalist in the group See-Saw with Yuki Kajiura).

You're welcome~ Yes Sound Horizon does have a lot of singers in the recent releases so do check out the not so earlier works starting the album Roman where she has two solo songs \(^0^

Hello a-chan, welcome to CPM. ^^
It's perfectly fine to take your time to sign up.
This is coming from a person that took more than a few years to register on the forums.
Teas are the best thing for me, right next to coffee.

Didn't really like vol.#9 here. I will recommend vol.#4 if you haven't bought it yet.
It has the best performance from FJ (video-wise) imo and has been released on BD. What's not to like?

Great to see another person learning Japanese and you are so close too.
Hope you'll get to go Japan soon and all the best for the language course.

And don't worry about your height I'm sure you'll grow in time to come.

Thanks @joel_jman! I will check those out too :sohappy:

@Insidia: Hello, nice to meet you and thank you for your kind words! :plz:I love coffee too, I drink them in the morning to kick-start myself, and then it's tea in the afternoon and at night. I don't currently own vol.#4, but I have already watched all the released lives (someone uploaded it on YouTube). I still do want to buy it though, so I'm looking forward to go to Japan for the lives, as well as to buy all past released lives and CDs. As I mainly watch on my iMac I can only buy DVD. I don't think Apple supports BD... or do they? (haha sorry I'm not very tech-savvy). And about my height... I'm long past the growing stage so I'm going to be permanently short

Welcome, a-chan! We have a D-chan on the forums and now we have an a-chan :ohoho: It's really cool to see a FictionJunction fan join, I think more people come here for Kalafina then FJ. :goodjob: My favourite Kalafina album is their first, Seventh Heaven, to me it encapsulates their original signature sound and style, so I hope you will enjoy it if you give it a try too! :ohoho:

Hope you have an awesome time around here, and don't worry - as my below-150cm friend likes to say, you're not short, you're fun-sized! :sohappy:

Thank you for your warm welcome @Cerise! Yes it seems that a lot of people here are Kalafina fans. I must admit I don't really know much about Kalafina and their music, other than the fact that two of Kalafina's members are in FictionJunction. Actually I can't really say I know a lot about FJ's Utahimes either, only the really basic information such as age etc. Oh yes! Actually I'm kinda curious, why is it that Keiko is being called the Queen of Harem around here? Is there any story behind that? :confu:

And about the fun-sized thing, I actually have a t-shirt for that from the time I was studying in Australia :ohoho:

P/s: Thanks for your recommendation! I will check out the songs from the Seventh Heaven album too! :)

Which city were you in? (Lived in Adelaide all my life except for 1 month in Sydney).

I was in Perth for about 3 years studying at UWA. I've been to Sydney and Canberra for about a month during winter break, but never been to Adelaide before :)

Besides Yuki Kajiura and her musicians and singers, I've also seen many other anison (music of anime) acts live, including Minami Kuribayashi of Mai-HiME / Chrono Crusade OP fame, Minori Chihara, Nana Mizuki, Angela... (mainly through attending Animelo Summer Live 2011/2012/2013, 5pb live 2013 and Animax Musix 2013 day 2).

If you haven't watched it yet, I recommend that you look at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwoc6P1UXwE (Dream Port Live: 砂塵の彼方へ)

the first vocalist with the operatic voice is Yuri Kasahara, followed by Kaori Oda (I still have trouble identifying all the other vocalists).

Wow, that's a lot of live performances you've been to! So you visit Japan at least once a year? How do you get tickets to those lives?

And thanks for the link! Yes I think I saw Kasahara Yuri-san featured in the KajiFes 2013 pamphlet. FJ + Yuuka + so many other vocalists I don't know, this collaboration is quite something! And Kajiura Yuki-san looks so lovely there. It's my first time listening to her sing like that :dote:

^ My travel agent has a representative in Tokyo who I've paid to join fan clubs and get tickets - at this stage I'm not earning enough to save for another trip over though. If I have the money I try to get over to see several acts/shows in one go. Many Japanese artists will have some announcements on twitter or a formal fan club or both to alert one of upcoming shows and releases.

The FictionJunction CLUB LIVE shows were good in that each had a Kalafina bracket with Yuki Kajiura on keyboards (can't be sure if she did any backing chorus with Kalafina or not).
