I've always loved Mai-Hime's OST, especially all versions of Ensei.

Lostangelvn made this simple but wonderful Flash art featuring Ensei no Mashiro. I am a subscriber to the the artist, so that's how I found out about this. You should check it out!

If you also know of anything like this for other of Yuki's songs, please do share. =)

You know...That's really nice. I closed the page but somehow the music is still playing. I'm scared.

Hm, I didn't have a problem with it. Uh oh, maybe your computer IS possessed! :omg:

I never watched Mai-Hime, so I don't know the significance of those fireflies. But that was pretty darn touching! The combination of the image and the fireflies and that music.... Brilliant!!

The fireflies... well it's just a metaphor. Simple yet profound. Yeah, you'll have to watch the series to understand. But yes, very touching indeed!

I don't...Remember seeing fireflies in Mai-HiME...Of course I could be wrong since I haven't watched it in almost 4 years.

Re: Re:

Yes, this is very lovely indeed. =)

No, there weren't any fireflies. I'd tell you what they symbolize, but I don't want to spoil it for others or ruin their personal interpretation if they decide to (re)watch the series.

I hope there's more like this out there for Yuki's music!

It depends on your tastes,
it has lots hatred caused by love betrayals which cause lots of deaths
but the soundtrack fits nicely as usual :dote: also I didnt found it to be slow motion type (like .hack/Noir/Madlax/El Cazador)

I think its mahou shojou / mecha anime

mahou shojou and mecha :blood:

but love betrayals and all that drama sounds nice :ayashii:

I didn't like Mai-Hime at first but I grew to like it over time. Yuki's music though really adds to the emotional effect of many scenes.

And the fireflies...it took me a minute to remember the significance but I remember now...yeah... :imdead: ... :plot:

Mai-Hime has a lot of characters. One of the things I really like about it is the character development of not just the leads, but a lot of the other characters (a majority of whom are girls). That's quite an accomplishment! It's not your girls with guns like Noir
they have kick-ass wild beast/mecha hybrids AND their own unique magical weapon!

I'm not sure how affected guys were by the series compared to us super sappy gals who love chicks flicks with action plus shoujo ai to boot, but let's just say that the fanfics keep coming and just won't die, lol.

Hell yes! It's what really got me interested in the series actually. The music was just so powerful. It made such a huge impression on me that to this day I keep playing the OST. =)

BTW, if you haven't seen the series or heard the music, here are some faves that I would recommend. Don't worry, these are music only. Of course, as you will see, er, hear, Yuki rocks! XD

You already know about Mezame and Ensei from the FJ Lives, but here are the anime versions anyway:

Ensei (This is not the version they sing in Lives. Instead they sing a truncated version of Ensei ~Omou Kokoro~)

Mezame (anime fight song version of Ensei)

Mai-Hime OST is definitely one of the best Yuki's works
