I thought it would just be easier if I put the translations for the current production report "series" for Kalafina in the one thread!

NEW Single Production Looking Good Number 1

There's another one and a half months until the new single 「sprinter/ARIA」 goes on sale.
CD production work is also going according to plan.

And so, on this 「Kalafina Note」, I thought I'd give a little report on the state of that production.

This first time, we'll talk about Kalafina's costumes.

In the previous work 「oblivious」, there were only pictures of Wakana and Keiko, but this time, with Maya and Hikaru also joining in, there are 4 people. Because of that, it is necessary to take into account scenes with the four of them in it, and there is the proposition that scenes should, to say the least, "express the world-view of Kalafina", so choosing the costumes is very important.

The conclusion the staff reached to tackle that challenge was to "make the costumes from scratch".

Well, as for the reborn Kalafina costumes ...
That's what I will report on in later 「Kalafina Note」 entries.

Kalafina NEW Single Production Looking Good Part 2

Continuing from the previous entry, this time will also be a production report.

This time, we'll talk about the shoot for the single jacket.

Being a shoot with 4 poeple, choosing the location was a feat in itself.

What was chosen was a real western-style house on the outskirts of the Kanto region.
We will be going with our cameras and shooting there.

Having said that, I went location hunting with the filming staff.

This western-style house had the chandelier seen in the photo hanging from the ceiling.
It was fairly large, and beautiful.
I kinda long for a house which suits having a chandelier.

Furthermore, the staircase had a stained glass window.
Even at the time of the location hunting, we were overwhelmed by its beauty...

When the costumes I reported about previously are completed, we will finally begin shooting.
The staff are more excited than the songstresses themselves.

I wonder what sort of shoot it will turn out to be?

Kalafina NEW Single Production Looking Good Part 3

This will be the third production report.

This time, I finally get to tell about the happenings on the day of the jacket and video clip filming.

This time, the jacket and video clip will be shot in the same location and setup.
I hope we can reproduce Kalafina's world-view even just a little bit...

On the day of filming, first the costume team prepares.
There are 4 people's worth of outfits made to be used in this shoot.
Let's have the songstresses wear these outfits as soon as possible.

Now then, while the songstresses are redyeing their costumes, the filming team prepares the setting for the scene.
In an empty room, they bring in artistic props like chairs and beds to create the scene.

At the same time, they also ready the camera.
They have to pay careful attention to things like the lighting and positioning, and not getting caught in the reflection of mirrors.

Oh, admist the hustle, it appears the preparations have been completed.
With that, filming starts.

Now then, we've reached the 4th volume of the production report.

With the stage, camera and lighting preparations all setup and ready, the filming finally starts.
First, the staff do a rough test.
They have someone actually in the shot, and do the final adjustments.

When they've tested enough, the actualy filming takes place.

The songstresses enter the stage at last!

Filming is all going as planned.
After a whole day, filming for the jacket and video clip is completed!
We plan to have a grand opening of the results soon.

And yes, "jacket" means "CD jacket (cover)" in this context.
