If FJ released another cover album...

Kaori:
-Life Goes On

Yuriko:
-Hikari
I was with you up until Life Goes On for Kaori. Life Goes On is a powerful song and I just can't imagine that going to Kaori as opposed to Keiko.
For Hikari I'm just biased. I don't want any of 'em singing it. Especially not Yuriko with that weird vibrato thing she does with her voice. I'd rather Kaori or Wakana.

@grunty I started a thread like this but the thread got deleted and my post was moved here, so I wasn't talking about this particular topic :)

Pardon me, it was me, although your post was talking about different kinds of covers (Yuki Kajiura compositions versus non Yuki Kajiura compositions), it was talking about covers (and I'm not sure where the non Yuki Kajiura composition sung by FictionJunction called Gatherway would fit either).

I LOVE Seki Tomokazu, but yeah, more for voice acting. (Sousuke was just awesome with his voice in Full Metal Panic, and Kyo from Fruits Basket, and even yes, Gilgamesh in Fate.) But I do love Shoot! and a few of his other songs. I wish he would collab with Yuki again.

But for this album I do think Yuuka would be great for some songs, since I love her voice. But I would rather have a new album, though with Kalafina's probably coming out, I doubt Yuki has had time to write for FJ. So maybe a cover album would be good.

It was only in the last few weeks looking at songs written by Yuki Kajiura originally in English that I realised that all except songs like You Are My Love sung by Eri Itoh and Everlasting Song by Aira Yuuki (any others?) were originally sung by native English speakers (all from the USA?) and only later did we hear versions with vocals by the Japanese singers.

How many songs have Kalafina sung parts of on Kalafina Club that are in English? Would they be good for a covers album?

PS, I'd like an album where FJ/Kalafina members cover other people's songs and those other people cover Yuki Kajiura songs.

If they're ever going to cover Hikari I'm pretty sure it won't have Yuriko as main vocal because I'm pretty sure Kajiura will task her with singing the Engrish background. Range-wise the song iirc is in Kaori's/Wakana's range (I kinda forgot how the song is lol) but none of them has the right 'tone' to do it. Actually I think the best choice would be Hikaru (although she's not in FJ) because her voice's tone fit this song the most.

Btw people, *the first* cover album here refers to everlasting song album, since iirc there are only 2 songs with FJ girls as the original vocalist (Keiko's Kaze no Machi e and Kaori's dream scape). And I agree with grunty, they most likely won't cover songs that aren't by Kajiura (unless they're tasked to do so in certain events. Hell, even Kalafina had the chance to cover other artists' song in Animax Musix but they ended up singing Kajiura's song when they weren't collaborating with other singers. The only exception is in LisAni 2011 (?) when they covered special rearrangement *by Kajiura, obv* of Claris' Connect) and the fact that FJ is an unit made by Kajiura specially to perform her songs live (again, unless they're asked to do a cover, just like Gatherway. I don't really count it anyway since the rearrangement was done by Korenaga and Kajiura maybe only added Kajiurago bridge there).

On side note, I want another Kajiura self-cover album like everlasting song because I already lost hope in FJ new songs. Might as well have an enjoyable cover album than a crappy whole new album with mediocre new songs. (Sorry people, I hate elemental that much).

I kind of weirdly want to hear some English songs covered. More specifically, Keiko singing "Can't Help Falling in Love with You", "Unchanged Melody", and maybe some Carpenter songs, because Karen Carpenter also had kind of a deep-ish voice, and I think Keiko even deeper tone would make those songs sound even more gorgeous :nosebleed:
Also ever since I heard that Wakana once sang Amazing Grace as an audition song, I've been itching to hear that :stars:
But these will probably never happen ;_;

I'd like to hear an English-language cover song done, but I'm not sure how challenging it would be to sing an entire track in a language you're not used to. I think a folk-y song like Sandy Denny-era Fairport Convention or Stevie Nicks Fleetwood Mac would sound really nice though. Or maybe Nick Drake? His vocal range is unusual and quite broad, but I reckon Keiko or Kaori could take it on. A gentle acoustic tune with a few backing strings.

More than anything, I'd like to hear Hikaru join FJ proper, then really show off her English fluency!

And they still can't pronounce English correctly. Hikaru can, though she probably chooses not to in Kalafina's songs probably to match the pronunciation of the other two and to make it sound "Japanese".

Their English pronunciation really isn't that bad, and that's coming from someone who's English. Sure, it's not perfect, but I wouldn't expect that from someone who doesn't have it as a first language. It's a damn sight better than a lot of people's though. Whilst I don't particularly care for Mune no Yukue the English in that is practically spot on, for example.
