Another new person here! I've been sorta following the site for awhile now and decided to go ahead and make an account. My friends might be relieved to know I have a place to gush about Kajiura so they don't have to hear it anymore:innocent:

I first heard Kajiura's music in .hack//SIGN back in elementary school. I liked that OST a lot, and I'd say that anime left a pretty big impression on me. I sorta went back to the //SIGN OST every now and then over the years, but I didn't pay any attention to the artist herself.

Years later, I watched Madoka Magica and was pretty interested in what I heard. I felt compelled to peek at the OST after I finished, and that's when I noticed that the composer was the same as the one for //SIGN.

I'm not usually that into anime OSTs outside of a few songs here and there, so when I found out that the same composer's music struck a chord with me twice in two completely different time periods, I was really impressed! That lead me to explore Kajiura's music more, and now I have loads and loads of it. It's nice to see other people appreciate it too.

That's enough out of me. Looking forward to discussing her music with you all!

^ Welcome Popsock! .hack//SIGN has some great music - I like how that it has both See-Saw and FictionJunction songs. Where are you from and when do you hope to hear some of Yuki Kajiura's music live?

Hello! I'm from the States, particularly Northwest Indiana.

I'm not much of a concert person...Actually, I've never been to one! Kalafina was in Chicago that one time though, so I probably could have seen them...But I think I had exams at the time, and it'd be really hard to get someone to go see an anime music concert with me. Maybe I'll just have to take the leap next time

^ If you can get to concerts in Japan, they are extremely professionally run, and for Yuki Kajiura and Kalafina the audiences are more like those for a classical concert than a popular music concert. Have you been able to check out any of the live concert footage on video sites or bought any of the concert DVD / blu-rays?

Japan...totally out of my budget and comfort zone, haha. Maybe I can think about it in a few years when I'm in a more stable position. You sure do make it sound cool though

I have seen footage online. Haven't bought any yet, but I'm considering buying a few different things after I get a job. The live versions are really neat! Sometimes I like them better than the studio recording, even though I don't get to feel the energy in person. I wasn't too impressed with the footage from live 11, though...and I'm so upset we didn't get a video for Kajifest :TdT:

^ When I saw that there wasn't a dolly track for a camera in front of the stage at YK Live vol. #10 I knew that we wouldn't be getting a live video from it /-:.

If you work towards it, getting over to Japan someday and hearing some of Yuki Kajiura's music live will happen.

welcome to CPM : ) I'm also from the US

wow, so young :ghost:

you should really try to go to a FJ/Kala/YK concert if you're ever able to. I went to Kalafina's live at ACen and man, I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. Now to go to one in Japan itself...

The same happened to me, in my case it's Mai-HiME/Mai-Otome and Madoka Magica. That led me to FictionJunction and Kalafina :)

Welcome! I am Liana and also from the states. I live by Chicago so I got to see them with the full band, except Konno which I was disappointed since I love his violin playing. But they were amazing! And I gave them my symphonia pic I had drawn and got my 5th anniversary book signed. It really was a great weekend. I hope you get to go soon. You can ask me anything. I am a fan since Noir and .Hack as well. Love those two. Enjoy your stay here!
