Anyone like / listen / heard of Hiromi Uehara?

I dont know about the interests of Jazz in general here at CPM, but I thought I might just inquire.

Hiromi is a very talented pianist and musician. Thats really all i need to say. Shes cute too :dote: :dote:

She has also dueted with Chick Corea and Akiko Yanno, played extensively and released albums with Stanley Clarke, and played piano for a couple of songs by Ayaka.

Out of the vids that haven't been blocked/deleted, I'm really enjoying what I've heard so far. It has a nice contemporary twist but her skill is up there with the players of classical stuff. I'll make a mental note to track down more of her songs.

I'm actually a bit of a closet classical fan, and I've borrowed a few classical CDs and magazines from my family to find stuff I'd enjoy. I really like the Chopin sonatas, nocturnes and polonaises in particular.

Evgeny Kissin is the most well-known I think, but I recently heard about Yuja Wang, a Chinese virtuoso whose performance of Chopin's second sonata is amazing; a Youtube vid of her playing Flight of the Bumblebee is mindblowing, but I love her style in general.

Another pianist/composer who I would also recommend is Ludovico Einaudi...his style is slower and more 'minimalist' but it's very melodic and restful. Another true genius!

Thankyou! I've only seen her live once (and it was a relatively short concert) but it was well worth it. I already have most of her CD's and live videos.
 
Finally watched "Hiromi Live in Marciac" DVD recently. It's amazing for its high quality, how long each piece is... averaging about 12 minutes each, and of course the musical performance.
