Hello everyone, Gabriel here o/! Been a fan of Kajiura Yuki in general and Kalafina in particular since about 2011. First experience with Kajiura-sama's music was in Gundam Seed, but the experience that really brought me into the fandom was the Kara no Kyoukai soundtrack. After watching the series and absolutely loving the soundtrack, I started finding everything I could about the music. 'Kalafina? Who's that?' (searches on youtube). And the rest is history :D

I'm from Hong Kong, so a big regret is that I didn't know about Kalafina in 2010 when they did a live in Hong Kong. However that is in the past because they came again in 2014 and there was no way I was missing this one!

I'm currently helping out a little bit with the translation of Kalafina's blogs by Ruu / Suteki. She's doing all the hard work so be sure to give her some appreciation if you have fun reading the translations! And I hope to be able to contribute somewhat to this good society dedicated to Kajiura-sama's music too :D

P.S. If someone could teach me how to appropriately type and use those random emoticons that the Japanese always use...maybe I can stop using the same emoticons over and over :D

Welcome and thanks for the introduction! I had seen this site sometime in 2011 but didn't join until 2012 after seeing Kalafina and Chiaki Ishikawa at Animelo Summer Live 2011 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animelo_Summer_Live#August_28_2 - having bought the Kalafina Red Moon blu-ray just before that trip.

If all goes well I'll passing through HK (airport transit only) in a few weeks time on my way to and from Japan.

Thanks for your help with translation work and enjoy your time here!

There is a thread just for emoticons:

Welcome to CPMe, @acmecrazyfool! ^0^ I really thought you were already hanging out here OTL (I should stop assuming, really XD)
Around 2011, I was way too deep in the Johnny's and Jdrama fandom, so I could only care less about anime that time (plus I kinda find them cumbersome to watch... too many episodes! X_X). But now, while that hasn't really changed much (and I've lost most of my interest in Johnny's and lost time for Jdramas ;A;), I have most of my time appreciating Kalafina... (I should really get around to listening to other Kajiura-produced music and talents too OTL)

But anyway, yay! Another Gundam SEED fan~ ^0^ And lucky you~ ;A; You've already seen Kalafina in person
Anyway, for Japanese emoji, you can always refer to this site: http://japaneseemoticons.net/ (yeap, no choice - you have to copy-paste them OTL). As for this site, they have native emoticons either way, commonly known as "onions" :XD: Feel free to browse them, the descriptions are quite hilarious XDDDD

Yatta!!..another Gundam SEED fan!!.. I also discovered Kajiura-sama through that anime. Any other Kajiura-related animes you're currently watching?? hehe.. btw, Welcome to CPM!! :D

Hello, welcome to the forums Gabriel! :hi:

I'm from Hong Kong, so a big regret is that I didn't know about Kalafina in 2010 when they did a live in Hong Kong. However that is in the past because they came again in 2014 and there was no way I was missing this one!

I had a somewhat similar experience. Kalafina came to Malaysia in 2012 but it wasn't only until 2014 that I got into their music... but they never came back :comeback: Therefore I'm going to Thailand to see them this May :shy::ohoho:

Enjoy your stay here! A lot of us here can't understand much Japanese, so translators are very much appreciated :goodjob:

Well I watched the first season of Aldnoah Zero (Hiroyuki Sawano's also pretty cool), but it got a bit boring after Inaho came back with a mechanical eye and basically became emotionless god. Also considering whether to try out Sword Art Online Season 2, but haven't decided yet. And of course I'm eagerly awaiting season 2 of Fate: Unlimited Blade Works as I'm sure most people are :plz:

Going backwards, Fate/Zero was certainly one my favourite animes of all time, and Madoka Magica was pretty great too. Until now, 'Manten' is still my favourite Kalafina song, but from the low quality versions of 'Ring your Bell' that I've heard so far it may have a good chance of competing

Any other Kajiura-related animes that you would recommend, by any chance?

I enjoyed le portrait de petite cossette and eve no jikan quite a bit. Ohh and also noir. and pandora hearts. those are good. though I highly recommend hanako to anne

Welcome! I am Liana. I love Kalafina. They are my favorite group, I also discovered them through Yuki, since I was keeping up with her works since Noir. So you may ask me anything, except the emoticon thing, since I don't have a Japanese keyboard. heh so you might want to check out that site. Hope you like it here and enjoy!

Welcome to CPM, always good to have new people around :hi:.

I really should get round to watching some Gundam at some point...

Manten is an interesting choice for a favourite song, but I can't disagree with it, I really like it too. How much Kajiura-related material have you actually listened to so far? I'd be interested to see what you've experienced.

Petit Cossette... isn't very good :uh..:. The soundtrack however is bordering on perfect. I'd recommend Kara no Kyoukai though, even if the story doesn't catch your interest the films are aesthetically gorgeous in every way, with some of the best soundtrack and animation in the whole medium.

Talking of which, Cossette was what got me first interested in Kajiura actually, although I didn't actually get into her properly until later on around the time Madoka came out, although I'd already been a Kalafina fan for a few months by the time that happened. Good to see you've finally seen Kalafina perform too, I finally saw them live last year and they were wonderful:love:.

Hope you enjoy our time here, and thanks for the translation help :goodjob:.

Welcome to the forum, I liked her themes for Gundam Seed too. I'm waiting for the day when they give her a chance to write a full score for Gundam don't know if that will happen but it would be awesome.

Kajiura related material huh...well I think I've heard pretty much everything from Kalafina, a few soundtracks here and there (Kara no Kyoukai, Fate Zero, Madoka etc.), and I've listened to a few FictionJunction songs. Kara no Kyoukai was what got me into Kalafina in the beginning, so yes it's amazing :dote:. I actually read the books before watching and the anime did a great job of conveying the same atmosphere while adding to it with gorgeous animation and music.
