It might be a bit of an afterthought...Personally, how should I put it—this song "Kanata" feels just like the kind of music I vaguely dreamed of as a child, humming along while plunking away at the piano, thinking, "Someday, it'd be nice to create a song like this." It seems like the very essence of it. I'm sure this is the kind of song, the kind of sound, that made me start making music in the first place. (One of them, anyway.)And from when I was a kid, I suppose the music I wanted to make hasn't really changed at its core. There are endless things I want to do, and there's still so much I want to tackle here and there, so finishing this song doesn't mean something has ended for me. If anything, it feels like something new has begun. That said, if I hadn't crossed paths with the work *Walpurgisnacht Rising* right at this moment and been tearing my hair out over "What should the ending be?!" (lol), this song might never have been born. And if, in this very moment, I didn't have all my favorite fellow musicians, or these ideal divas to perform it, this song wouldn't have been completed. It's all about serendipity, I guess—I'm just deeply grateful for it. Thank you all so much! (tears)In other words, what I'm trying to say is—and I know it's weird coming from me, but—this is a song I'm really, really fond of. I'm thrilled that I was able to create it. It was a joy to perform it live with everyone. And above all... if you listen to this song too, and if—if you happen to think, "I kinda like this," there'd be no greater happiness for me.Hoping it reaches your ears.
