Something really sad and tragic happened at school today. I found out that this girl's mum died suddenly on Monday and it's the most heartbreaking thing ever because her dad's never around or at home, so for a long time it's just been her and her mum living together. So right now she's pretty much alone and she's staying at her best friend's house now. It hasn't quite sunk in for her yet because it was so sudden and such a huge shock, so she's pushing it all away and still coming to school and acting normal, but everyone's really careful to be extra nice to her and not mention anything until she comes to terms with it in her own time.
This girl is in my grade and whilst I'm not a close friend of hers, I know her pretty well and talked to her quite a lot and I know she's one of the sweetest, nicest girls I know - everyone (I literally mean, everyone) likes her. You won't find a single bad rumour or comment to be made about her behind her back.
She's really down-to-earth, honest, never conceited, you always feel like you don't need to act cool but can be yourself around her because she the type of person who doesn't judge others and who treats everyone with the same friendliness.
When I found out I cried really hard and wondered for a long while why it had to happen to her, the most undeserving of something like this, of all people. Why do bad things happen to genuinely good people?
