since there wasn't a topic on just clamp & their works, I decided to create a topic where clamp fans can discuss freely about past or current works of theirs :love:


as some of you may know, i'm a HUGE clamp fan :XD:
my favorite works would have to be tokyo babylon and x, followed by tsubasa because the characters from x show up in there. :XD:
x was one of the first manga i read when i was small ( i think i was 7/8?...not something a little girl should be reading.... :groucho: ) and i started to reading cardcaptor sakura at the time, too. that's when i fell in love with clamp :love:


I recently picked up legal drug again (now its called drug & drop) since they continued it. anyone read this manga? it's kinda...weird so far hahaha :XD:


i've been hoping for like ten years for clamp to finish x....... :touched: :comeback: :glower:
that's all i have to say about x.. :imdead:

I have read Tsubasa and Holic (not the last volume)

and I watched Chobits anime (it seems the manga is way better)

and I have too that snow queen manga :sparkleguy:
 
i really liked tsubasa :sohappy:
the ending was okay, but i think they left a lot of unanswered questions :(

holic!! i'm not going to spoil it for you, but i really hated the ending. and since it tied with tsubasa, i kinda was disappointed with that ending, too :cry:
 
Ah. I'm a huge fans of the biggest troll of manga-circle ever, whose known as CLAMP too.

Well, tbh for their ending, I never find them great. WHY DID THEY ALWAYS ENDED THEIR WORKS THAT WAY? Their only works with decent ending are only Wish and CCS for me. Oh, Chobits too.

TRC and xxxHoLiC is just a big disappointment for me for their ending. xxxHoLiC especially.

Anway, I'm a huge fans of Legal Drug and I was soo excited when they started to work on this one again. Although, seriously, 20 pages per month? :uh..: And their newest work, Gate 7 nearly doesn't impress me at all. Mokona's drawing has been decreasing in quality. (Nekoi is even better for me now, well, I always love Nekoi's line. Her smooth line is the best :love: She is the one who did the line for CCS, although the drawing is by Mokona. And the result is :shy: :nosebleed: ). Legal Drug is their old version of xxxHoLiC for me. Hopefully they decide to give this one a better ending.

And I was sooo :vortex: at their pairing, who could leads to shounen-ai, shoujo-ai--> although not bluntly, except for Saiga and Kakei from legal drug, How the emotion is even deeper than the straight ones (SakuraSyaoran, HidekiChii is just soo plain. The most emotional one is SorataArashi from X for me) oedipus complex/pedophilia, although I do understand their point that love should have no boundaries.

Although I'm also a big fans of X (seriously, X is their best work in matter of art. The artbook is so :nosebleed: :nosebleed: :nosebleed: :nosebleed: And the tarot card bonus from every volume releases...:love:), i don't feel like they're going to continue it.

It seems that missjasminnn is a bit of fujoshi, a fangirl to KamuixSubaru... :ohoho:

i agree. mokona's drawing has been decreasing...tsubasa's artwork wasn't the best :spotlight:
i'm really hoping they give legal drug a good ending..i need a good ending from them after kobato, holic, and tsubasa :bloodlust: :touched:

honestly, i think x is one of mokona's BEST ever! the artwork is SO beautiful..so gorgeous :shy: :nosebleed: i always find myself looking at the artbooks once in a while and it makes me want to cry...x had a really good plot going...

seriously...they just HAD to pause it right when kamui finds out subaru betrayed him :orz: :touched: i seriously LOVE kamui and subaru's weird brother type relationship. it's so strong :love:

but with all the disappointing endings lately, i'm not sure i want clamp to finish x until they have an ending that the fans will like and will definitely not disappoint. x deserves an amazing wrap up :knife:

apart from loving kamui & subaru's brother type relationship, i'm all for some kamuixsubaru :psst: :psst:

aww~ that pairing makes me heart hurt...their relationship is so beautiful it hurts :comeback:
for me, the most emotional one would have to be seishirou & subaru's relationship. when i read tokyo babylon, i was seriously balling because of the hurt and----wait...hold on...lemme put this in a spoiler box :XD:

but yeah, i was balling so hard because of the hurt subaru had to experience from the person he loved the most. i coudn't imagine the hurt he went through because of seishirou. i mean, he almost killed him, he presented himself as the rival clan to the sumeragi, AND he killed his other half, hokuto :cry: and on top of that, subaru STILL loved that guy!! that's love right there...and i hate how we never get to see what seishirou said to subaru before he died :wai:

when subaru chose to become the sakurazukamori, it just showed how far his love for the man went to. he chose to betray his family and his team to be what sieshirou wanted him to be :touched:

mine is obvious: kamui :XD:
he's just so beautiful :shy: both inside and out. the poor boy really has it bad with the whole 'the future lies in your hands' thing :XD:

Well, I agree on TRC's artwork. They barely use tone on this one, and Igarashi's heavy-bold line on their earlier volume is just so :blood: , and on the later volumes Mokona's drawing seems a bit different, in a bad way.

But Gate 7. Seriously. They used TRC drawing technique, but they use real photos and use it as their background. It's just sooo :blood: . And the story is not that great either..

What I mean in SorataArashi as the most emotional one, is their straight couple..
Their yaoi/shounen-ai ish couple is faaaaaaaarrr more emotional, with lots of sacrifice they made for each other. As a Clamp fan yourself, you must be feeling it. Syaoran only had to collect Sakura's memories for her in TRC. Your Seishiro and Subaru relationship is a good example. Although there are much more...I'm a bit of fudan for CLAMP's work :desksweat:

Favorite CLAMP character :
FAI D. FLUORITE. I adore him. Seriously. He's one of the most complex character from CLAMP. He is quite a charmer, he is cool and mysterious at the same time, he has such a dark past, he and Kuro are the CLAMP's character that have a lot of change in personality throughout the series, like their soul is growing. And that's so awesome. And he's a mage. Plus vampire. :plot: And the way he has to give up all his feeling, being told that he's a curse just because he was born... :cry:

As for Kamui and Subaru...
I hate their childish version in TRC, although Kamui's personality is really cool here. They're the best when in X. WHERE IS MAH X COLLECTION?? :XD:

Have you seen the OVA version of X? It has the end of X, and I think it's CLAMP's idea.. But the end is really :blood: My favorite charas were all dead. Karen Kasumi, Sorata :cry:

missjasminnn, which CLAMP character do you hate/like the least?

Mine is Kaho Mizuki from CCS. She is such a pedophile :omg: She's like, the old version of Yuuko (bearer of Moon magic), and CLAMP (for me) thinks that she's suck so they replace her with Yuuko, which is :goodjob:
 
yeah, i got upset when they drew subaru all weird :blood: like, come on! they know how to draw him beautifully :knife:

yeah...gate 7...i dunno about that one. i mean i've read all the volumes so far, but i just feel like it's not really a good story..but then that's what i thought about kobato. i used to hate it, then i started loving it, but then hated the ending :blood:

yeah, there is probably more examples like seishirou/subaru...but since x is the first clamp work i've read, i just feel more connected to them... :XD: i mean, even though i don't understand fuuma/kamui as much as seisub, i feel as though it's the same, in away. sorata/arashi :love: they are my favorite straight couple.

ah~ my heart hurts for fai so much :touched: i remember when i was reading the chapter where his past is revealed, i think i cried. fai is so strong and he was able to hide his pain behind a smile. synchronicity fits him, in a way with the "寂しい時には笑顔に隠れる君は・・・" :cry: sigh...poor fai. i think his past was one of the saddest in tsubasa....well, THE saddest :comeback:

kamui&subaru
i like the whole idea that they were twins because they truly are mirrors of each other. but idk...i didn't like the fact that subaru was the same age as kamui :XD: it screwed up my mind for a second hahaha. i think it would have been more precious if it was hokuto and subaru, not kamui and subaru as twins. WHERE IS HOKUTO LOVE???lol :XD: but I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE the idea that they are vampires :nosebleed: :psst:

YESS i've seen the movie...i didn't like it :blood: it was way too rushed and subaru was killed DURING THE FIRST 5 MINUTES :stupidtable: :anger: :voodoo: i remember saying "well, this sucks. wonder if kamui's going to die soon, now." hahaha. subaru plays a huge role in kamui's life, so to kill him off before the action begins???? :blood: :uh..: i didn't like the ending either...it's like "okay, fuuma's dead..now what?" hahaha i didn't like the tv version's ending, either. >.<

hmmm. i would have to say that i really don't like hinoto from x.....she's the reason so many people close to kamui died :blood:

i also didn't like sakura in tsubasa...or clone sakura, whatever :XD: she just annoyed me a lot. :XD:
 
Ah, now that you've mentioned synchronicity, I'm totally going to listen it later and pay more attention to the lyrics.

As for Kobato, I love the ending. Seriously. It's so romantic. How Kobato reincarnated and the guy waits for her for 16 years before meeting her again. Just like Wish, with the 100 years long-wait :ghost:

Yeah, I was so :omg: at the way they draw Subaru and Kamui, as a teenager, well not teenager. They're like a child who've just entered their teen. Seriously, where is my cool-but-beautiful Subaru? :knife:...and for they being twin. Where is my beloved Hokuto? Hokuto is one of the best female chara CLAMP ever made. Well, most women in X are. Except Hinoto. I agree on that aspect that well. Konoe is even better than her.

Fuuma and Kamui for me...
I totally head-over-heels for Fuuma and Kamui's relationship. And with Fuuma's sister, Kotori. Well, I don't really like her too :XD: How their mother is in love with each other, that somewhat affects their children :psst: And how (for me) Fuuma is crazy over Kamui. They had so many :ehm: moment back there.

And Fai. Seriously. How he loved his twin and his twin sacrificed for him, even made an agreement with Fei Wang Reed, how he is willing to do anything for anybody who shows him a bit of kindness (even Fei Wang Reed), and his past with Ashura-Ou, how he can't kill himself..Good thing is Kuro comes to the rescue. I think between all of the near shounen-ai pairing by Clamp, kurofai is my favorite. The sacrifice they made for each other...I don't even think I can go that far if not for someone I loved

Yes, Kaho is such a pedo. First Touya, and then Eriol (which is even worse) :omg: I love how CLAMP, on most of Tsubasa-verse and chapter decided to get rid of her from Touya's past. And get rid of Eriol as well.

Well, I'm not a big fans of Clow Reed.

And I don't really like Sakura in TRC too. Her best moment is only in the Piffle Arc..

As for X OVA, I know how you've felt. It's soooo :stupidtable: :voodoo: although, if CLAMP sticked to their original plot, one between Kamui or Fuuma should be dead...:rain:

What's your favorite CLAMP work? For me it's TRC and Wish...Legal Drug and first half of xxxHoLiC, too. When Yuuko left the world, xxxHoLiC is so :stupidtable: for me

I've read all of their works, and my favorite is Wish.. :shy: and Clover.

i really just loved it until the end of the trc, after yuko disappeared from every dimensions...

after that, the mood of the manga's so gloooooomy and the ending's so disappointing...
after reading the last chapter, i was like :blood: this is the end of the manga??!
 
Yeah. And I kinda hate Watanuki towards the end of xxHoLiC. Doumeki and Kohane made such a big sacrifice for him.
 
I haven't watched or read XXXHolic, I had an impression that it's kind a boring.
 
the last part is boring and emoooo

but the character building parts are so so so good, and you can learn much from Japan's superstitions, beliefs, and other western influence [ex. monkey's paws], etc.
