Boys versus girls *moichi's is back*

Sounds good :sparkleguy:

Oh, definitely. Her voice being so powerful makes it much more dramatic.
Emily Bindiger just sounds rather...off all the time. I don't know what it is about her voice that I don't like... :uh..:

By the way, do you feel that the big Korechan thing at the end of Salva Nos fits the song or not? I always thought it was fine, but I remember a few Youtube people saying that it didn't seem right :confu:

378

i love her vol 2 houseki too, gave me chills :plot:

imo emily's voice has a bit of a creaky vibe to it Dx; i personally prefer margaret dorn and deb lyons.

i just don't like salva nos so i haven't heard it enough XD; i'll go relisten. for the most part i liked the vol 2 setlist though~

Just wanna join the chat, because the boys won't have the chance with this constant winterxninetales time everyday. Maybe I'll join Cerise to ship you two lol.

@ninetales : I think the big Korechan thing (Live vol.4, maybe) is great, but it doesn't fit the song, somehow. As for Emily Bindiger, the only song from her that I like is MLFCS. And that's because I haven't heard FJ cover version of that song lol

376

I actually find that her Vol. 4 Houseki is a little smoother in terms of vocals...Korechan's solo is kinda meh, though, so I don't listen to it much.

Hmm, you're probably right. There's something about it that sounds a little forced sometimes, like in the background chorus of I Swear. Deb Lyons has a lovely voice, though, especially in Winter and Canta Per Me :love:

You don't? :omg: It's one of my favorite lives! I love playing it on the piano :shy:

@ritardando: Don't you dare :knife:

I agree about MLFCS...I actually do like it!

Just don't count my post lol. Don't you dare what, niney? :ohoho: :plot:

I think Emily ruined I Swear with her over-vibrato in the chorus lol. Actually I like vol.4 Houseki more, but some people said that her voice is too "rounded" in that live and now. I think that's because Keiko already trained her chest voice more, so she sounded this way. Anyway, anything about Keiko is always will be :love: for me

374

keiko's vol 4 houseki is smoother and the transition to the higher notes are better. but i don't like how her voice sounds from vol 4 onwards :uh..:

deb's voice is nice, but gosh is her accent heavy! while i don't love emily i still prefer her everytime you kissed me, key of the twilight, and i reach for the sun.

salva nos is just one of those songs i've never loved. just heard the solo, it seems randomly inserted XD;

372

@ritardando: If you're gonna ship me with anyone, make it Korechan :listen:

Despite the solo differences, I think Keiko sounds much better in the Vol. 4...her Vol. 2 performance is a little shaky, like Synchronicity live is too.

@Winter:

Yeah, I agree. Why don't you like her later voice, though? :confu:

Key of the Twilight live I probably would've liked more if the acoustic guitar hadn't been playback...although Kaori sounds very good there.

370

it's too runny now for my liking. IMO the vol 2 houseki had more "punch" and dynamic variation, especially in the pre-choruses.

agree about the acoustic guitar. i was disappointed kaori didn't get to sing the high note for "secret sun"! it was a serious let down as that was the highlight for me in the emily version

@Niney : Most people don't like Keiko's nowadays voice because they said it's too "rounded", according to some page on this forum I've read. Anyway, I think that because mostly Kajiura uses Keiko as harmonizer more so she had to make her voice "rounded" and "deeper" so it can't harmonize perfectly with the other. But Keiko for me still can produce her smooth voice, like in hitorigoto, which sounded like her Kaze no Machi e voice for me, and Keiko's voice in Manten is kinda like her voice in Kizuato for me, which is totally :love: :love:

Anyway, I like synchro live,albeit it's shakiness especially in the last chorus. It's so badass that I can't stop :nosebleed: :nosebleed: all over the performance.

368

Ah, I see. Personally I like the smoothness of her voice, so I guess I didn't notice :XD:

I can't even tell who sang it, actually. Was it Wakana?

To be honest, I was really disappointed in Winter live. The original is so sad and nostalgic-sounding, and the live was just...jazzy and bland. It lost all its emotion :rain:

Agree with ninetales in winter. Winter is the only track from FJ live CD that I always skip because it's totally borefest and bland...

I think it's Wakana.. who sing the "secret sun"...

366

@ninetales it's okay :XD:

it was wakana who sang the highest note for "secret". funny thing is kaori was on harmony but her mic was the loudest and then they both sang the same note on "sun", so the whole line just sounded weird :blood:

ehh winter live was jazzy? wasn't it just kaori and piano? i thought it was pretty nostalgic and sad sounding O_O

364

@Winter: Okay, I see. I always heard Kaori's voice loudest, so I thought she sang the high note too...

Something about it sounds jazzy to me, yeah. I think it's some of the piano, and the way Kaori improvises at the end.

I would love a Winter live with Keiko on main vocal, Korechan on acoustic, and Konchan Konno on the accordion parts... :TdT:

@rita: I think that's part of Keiko's charm, though! Her voice is so unique and rich. In Manten especially :love:

At first I was wondering if she was sick or something in Synchronicity live, since her voice is a bit shouty and not very precise...but now I think it's great. The song sounds so much better with Korechan's arrangement :shy:

362

@ninetales: nope, she didn't sing it. i expected her to as well so i was in SHOCK and MISERY when it didn't happen

i dunno, i didn't think the improv was a big deal since it was only one line. if she burst out in like scatting or doo-wops that'd be a different issue :XD:

360

True...it's not that I didn't like the improv, though. The rest of the song, especially since it was a little "jerky" in the rhythm, just didn't hit me. :uh..:

358

oh, i see. yeah, the tempo could've been steadier for sure. but i thought the acoustic arrangement and slow tempo contributed to that sparse feeling. it's one of my favorites on the album, actually :XD:

@niney : From all the way you can use to cut my username, why it has to be rita :uh..:

As I don't really enjoy Manten, Keiko's part is a total exception :XD: I would love winter with Keiko as main vocal too :nosebleed: And I never listen to original version of winter so I didn't know that Kaori improvise the last line lol

356

I guess you've got a point...I feel it doesn't measure up to the original in terms of emotion, but that's just me.

What do you think of Materialise? :ayashii:

@ritar: Oh no, I'm sorry :XD:

I think Keiko's smooth voice would really fit in Winter :nosebleed:

352

I love it. It's so much better than the original :love:

I'd like to win the round tonight...but it's getting late... :TdT:

Ah well, good night everyone! :bye:
