JUNNA
@junnarockyou
Translated from Japanese
I sang "aikoi" with the determination to "absolutely win this love" in my own way đŸŽ€

It was so much fun dancing together with LEIA-san and Joelle-san

When I finished singing the last part "love in this heart," seeing Kaijiura-san looking at me with an incredibly big smile was truly heartwarming ❀

aikoi
Having JUNNA sing it turned it into a surefire win ver. aikoi! It was overflowing with the power of "I'm absolutely going to seize that love (àč‘â€ąÌ€ă…‚â€ąÌ)و✧!" and just way too fun!

This is for the anti-JUNNA-taking-aikoi-or-any-other-FJYuuka-songs-ever-again faction. 😁 Kajiura obviously enjoys her take on classic songs, since she keeps inviting her and giving her to sing.

I am personally curious to see her take other covers. It's just a matter of using a more appropriate technique, i.e. a slightly lower gear of power with more emotion in the voice, rather than using power as emotion.

JUNNA just needs to have songs that do not lend to her belt-y style, or songs written in a way to not leave long open-ended notes at the ends of phrases that almost inevitably turn to a belt from her. Maybe from existing Kajiura discography a ballad-style would fit her better to cover.

A good song was Chiaki's song for her from the anime Magus Bride - it was challenging vocally and had her belting at points but the tempo/genre, melody and song structure controlled and limited the belt duration.

Both sides of Kajiura comes out a bit from time to time. 😁

Because of the length of her MCs, I imagine she enjoys banter and long, talkative conversations.

Late poopinions, but I got a new doggie and she won't let me type in peace hue.

-Black rose: dayum, nice intro. dat Emiko out of fucking nowhere. The performance was pretty much flawless. Love how lively everybody is.
-Eternal blue: bretty gut performance. Emiko is blends well with Kaori, Joelle and Yuriko are great together as usual. Kaori was good, except her final line in the bridge.
*Everyone is super happy in their intro. "Kajiura-san no ongaku daisuki da" Ah Emiko, never go plis.
-Destination: Oof I love her energy, her expresions. Great once again.
-Hachigatsu no oregano: Mmm is it just me or does LL sound better? Feels like she's not squeaking out the high notes during the refrain anymore.
-Kohotonohokayawarakai: More gutness. Emiko fits perfectly with the rest. Love how extra lively Joelle was here, and her voice stood out more compared to previous performances.
-Hikidashi etc: Mmm I think I prefer how Kaori sounds here compared to the single version. I forgot to write my poopinions in the thread: luv the song but I didn't like how Kaori added too many cries at the end of her phrases.
-Toki no mukou etc: No Emiko but it werks with just JKY. Joelle's pretty strong and confident. Yuriko gut as (almost) always. Kaori all gut, though the bridge was kinda too comfortable for her voice hue.
-Kioku no mori: ASCA fits bretty gut. Much better than Nowhere tbh. Though it would sound better if she had better technique hue. Kaori and LL were gut, but oh my muh Joelle was kween. The glissando doesn't ruin it for me, but I think it would've sounded better with portamento. Oh, and apparently they're singing "calling of the night" in the refrain and last part of the song.
-Kimi ga yume etc: pretty solid. Was not expecting Joelle to sing lower harmony. If it was audio only I would've thought it was someone else.
-Nostalgia: Very different feeling compared to Yuuka's version. I like it, and KOKIA sounds good (obviously), but I feel like she sang it a little safe? Could've inserted a bit more of her KOKIA flair, like when she sang Nostalgia in the bridge. LL doing harmony? Intadasting, and she sounds good hue.
-Kaze yo fuke: bretty great, like Kajifes.
-Aikoi: Not a good fit for Junna's style of singing. Too much crying technique. TOO MUCH! On the other hand, LL and Joelle were pretty gut. In fact, I think this song would've fit LL perfectly.
-Umi to shinju: Now this one was bretty great. Like, no complaints hue. Would've been interesting it was the English version, just to hear more Joelle high notes.
-Lighthouse: Honestly, no complaints. I thought LL sounded gut both here and in the single version. Yuriko is a kween of course. Oh Emiko sang Kajiurago with Yuriko. Oooh Kaori was the upper harmony in the verses. Intadasting.
-Nowhere: did they change the yanmani chant again? hue. Asca sounds better than Kajifes, but I think it fits Junna better than Silly go round (Mebbe Junna and Asca should've switched songs in Kajifes hue) I thought they were gonna throw the t-shirts at the audience, but they kept them hue.
-Zodi: no complaints. All gut and full of energy.
-Parade: All gut, all gut. BUT, since this is, like, the Kajiura/FJ anthem, I think mebbe LL should sing too? Mebbe Joelle's second verse.
-Homura: I don't listen to LiSA raibu much, but it was pretty good. THOUGH, seems like her voice went off pitch and mebbe broke right before the bridge? Feels like something happened there and was fixed in post hue. Emiko and Joelle were gut. (I luv Joelle's part in the bridge. I like that upper harmnony more than the lead melody there hue)
-Zankoku no yoru: Oof, YKLive full force. LiSA was great, but I gotta admit the rubato during the slow part, right after the refrain, made me a little anxious hue. I liked the childish voice she did on the second repetition.
*lel at the Utabito guys not knowing when to leave the stage.
-Stone cold: I'll allow it just cuz Emiko is here, and dayum is she here hue. Dat Kaori vs Emiko showdown. Cute Emiko x LL moment in the bridge.
*Joelle all happy during her goodbye hue.
*Kaori too hue
*And Yuriko
*PRINCESS RIE

Sad that Joelle's Honoh no tobira was cut, but at least It'll be included in the BD.
REEEEEEEing that Nocturne was cut. Please include it in the next album. Song should've always been hers
Sad no From the edge nor Koikogare. Next album mayhaps?

Kinda feels like Kajiura wasn't just testing Emiko as the new low voice, but also Joelle and LL for both upper and lower harmony. And I think they all nailed it.

I think LL has definitely improved a lot in the last year or so. I had a hard time listening to her and now I really enjoy it.

Enjoyed your over-bubbling review as usual. 🖖

I think KOKIA was sufficiently respectful to the original by following the general contours of Yuuka's original performance (YKL#4) so as to not try and turn it into a "KOKIA track". It's also not a cover with her musicians, so she's still working within Kajiura's framework and their rehearsals.

I listened to both the original and this version again over the past couple of days and, in spite of the fact I heard Yuuka's first and it was one of my favorite tracks to me (actually the track that made me connect to her), I think KOKIA's is just that bit more impactful to me, vocally.
