Without a doubt, Kalafina would have sung at least one ED, possibly "from the edge", as was one discussed in another forum thread on this site. I can't recall which one.
The interesting thing is that since the KnY anime was released in 2019, one year after Kalafina was disbanded and anime productions usually start several months if not few years before release, Kajiura may very well have been writing "from the edge" for Kalafina, and had to pivot to working with LiSA, who may have been working on "gurenge" at the same time!
Kajiura promptly set up FictionJunction (the company) to manage her own music, and if that came into existence in time, she may have been able to negotiate a larger share of the royalties for herself as well. Who knows, if she was still with SC, and had not written "from the edge" for LiSA, the stars may not have aligned for their multi-song collaboration on "Homura", etc., leading to all the award wins and accolades, in lockstep with the anime.
It was actually fitting, ironically and in a story-sense, that the same artist (LiSA) sang the OP and ED for season 1 of KnY, which gave a sense of a prologue and epilogue of each episode being told by the same voice/vocal (reminds me a narrator, or of the Harmonia sisters in SH's Moira).

Maybe that might be the case.
Though, with the success of the show and Kajiura's songs with LiSA, I think the producers of the show wanted to have another big name artist singing the ED. That has it's own hype and beneficial effect for the musical artists and the anime series and movies.
Kalafina being on the roster would have definitely been a MASSIVE boost in visibility for them on one of the biggest anime of all time!
