New song "wonderland" composed by Y. Kajiura, included in AIMER's 6th album Walpurgis

#37 I came for badass Yuki so I'm in love with 「wonderland」.

For me it's not perfect partly for the reasons you've said above, but I also find that the climatic part with mad violin is a bit short, unlike those from「Hana no Uta」, 「I beg you」&「Haru wa Yuku」.
At some point I also wished Kajiurago to drop with call-back melody from the HF trilogy, but this remains original in its way so I'm not complaining.

Thank you @george1234 for the comparison with「on an island」, wouldn't have noticed for a while tbh lol. It's so similar, was it intended in some way (Fate, Kiritsugu grew on this wonderland)?
Also quite irrelevant, but funny to see that HF trilogy was announced on April 15, 2016 and that this last song drops almost 5 years later.

As for the clip, nothing personal but I miss Minami Hamabe on the performance because of the consistency. The new girl has successfully taken up the torch though.

Easily entering my top 3 Aimer songs alongside 「I beg you」 & 「bL∞dy f8」.

Literally forgot about the PV, lol.

I feel they should've tried an (even) extra mile to make up for the girl just standing there. The end result did not quite make it for me (even though everything was great). Like @Justisamuel , she's simply no Minami Hamabe (in I beg you particularly, which remains my favorite PV despite the kaleidoscope effects).
Maybe some overhead shots for the dancing. Maybe more cuts from inside of the dancing circle. Iunno. Just more. Anything to make it more psychedelic. Those two dancing shots in reverse was not enough.

So considering the girl was smiling at the end, is the PV an origin story of a murderer or wut? Or was it your "typical" abused child metaphor with "revenge" ending?

It's okay. The upside-down composite shot after the first refrain was cool and the monster at the end was REALLY nice, actually. Decent choice of thumbnail, too.

It's so funny seeing the live chat of the MV people spamming hearts and "I love Aimer" while watching the MV that shows dark fairytale, eldritch abomination, decomposing corpse feat. worms and satanic ritual summoning lmaooo

Oh btw, the mv director took inspiration from Pan's Labyrinth and continuing the imagery of "I beg You". sorry i failed translating that one. This video(wonderland) was suppose to be the Episode 0 and I beg you ofc the episode 1.

Edit: I hope we can get translation of this song early hehe..:plz:

ah correct me if I'm wrong since I'm from Asia but there's a European folktale?? I read so long ago that told about children missing/abducted and lured to the forest then sometimes when they found those missing children they are kinda different from before. Probably taken inspired from that. Or from that movie the director mentioned that I haven't watched haha

I've seen Pan's Labyrinth and without spoiling anything, the only thing it has to do with this PV is fairytales/monsters and to an extent color scheme.

There was no smiling as people are murdered/poisoned. I guess you could stretch it that Pan's Labyrinth resolved its story before it got to that...

BTW before anyone spoils that movie for you, go watch it. It's very good.

The only sure thing is that Aimer has more budget than Kalafina for her MVs. She always had, ever since bravely shine at least.

@Justisamuel i doubt there is any connection between wonderland and FZ. Its just Kajiura being lazy and copying melodies from some past project of hers like it has happened many times in the past... (Best example "everyone has something to hide" from pripri and Hokuto no Ken theme. She used the same melody for the LORD movie themes too.

OMG WOW EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING TO HIDE IS NOTE FOR NOTE FJWAKANA HIKARI NO YUKUE

also just adding that the LORD theme is also note for note HIKARU's verses in HYAKKA RYOURAN

adding onto the sentiment that "wonderland" is an unreleased Kalafina song -- totally agree. Intro verses are soooo HIKARU main, KEIKO lower harmony, WAKANA upper harmony. Prechorus = WAKANA main, HIKARU mid harmony, KEIKO lower harmony. Chorus = WAKA main, KEIKO lower harmony. Second set of verse = KEIKO solo, followed by KEIKO main, wakana upper harmony. Then back to WAKA main... etc etc etc YA GET THE JIST

man is there gonna be a "wonderland" instrumental? I would looooove to cover it in the style of W/H/K... honky Wakana voice singing "iiin your wooonderleeeend" = yum

Bretty sure both the F/Z track and Wonderland are using sampled music.
Wait a minute, what is the Lord theme doing there?

@Atlas Star I don't think it's a Kalafina unreleased song. The structure, melody, arrangement, and general sound of the song are definitely more in line with what Kajiura has been writing for Aimer since HnU, especially IBU. If it was indeed a Kala song then it would be filled with harmonies and kajiurago, and there's nothing stopping Kajiura from having Aimer self harmonize more or add Yuriko/Hanae/herself.

Well, I know, but considering that each of the 3 songs were connected to the HF trilogy in terms of melody and that "pluie" also was.... nevermind.

What I picture watching this MV is YoRHa violonists stage-playing for Midsommar cultists while the creature from The Ritual tries to deceive Sakura Matō... and is the banquet of worms here to please Grandfather Nurgle?

In any case i can't see a car.

Oh I just think everything has Kalafina written all over it so don’t mind me 😂😂😂 it’s easy to do when I’ve spent the last 12 years voice covering 99% Kalafina songs for leisure ...
