New Fate/Stay Night by ufotable

My thoughts on the music (except the track during Archer's first scene and the Michael Bay trailer music during Lancer's scenes) that it might as well have been Kajiura. It had the same lack of effort piano, the same SFX, strings...

The show was okay, but IMHO too long. Certainly better than Zero's opening cause it wasn't as brooding...
 
^ I would say that the soundtrack was closer to a visual novel one. After all Fukasawa Hideyuki has mostly composed for games. After his Bakumatsu soundtrack I was expecting actual instruments used but it looks he prefered the cheap solution :(
 
Yeah, just watched it, I am a little slow. heh But I noticed that point zero as well, I thought it was an okay version of it, just not as good as Yuki's of course. The more soft sounding tracks are okay, but the battle songs could be better. I did like the one where Rin was jumping off the building though. Maybe it will get better. The show is starting off great. Oh, I thought it would be a Rin centered version? This was just "through the eyes of her" episode in the beginning of the series? Hmm. Also, next week! Believe!!! I liked the "theme" and thought it sounded way better than I was expecting (a more Aoi sounding song, not that I hate her, still).
 
I spotted Yuki Kajiura's name on the credits of the first episode even though the Kalafina song hasnt aired yet. It appears at 46:01.
It is because its a general credits text for all episodes or she has some sort of involvement ? It is related with the Point ero rearrangement ?

and a question related with the anime. Was Saber around before Shirou summons her of he did after Rin healed his wounds ?

After Rin healed his fatal heart wound, only then did he summon Saber (albeit accidentally) when Lancer attacked Shirou again at the Emiya residence.
 
^ which means she co-composed the Point Zero sounding track ?

btw, that track durates from 17:20 till 20:30 which means its 2:50 long. It kinda reminds me of the Anna ni isshou datta no ni Athrun Zala Feeling arrangement, if you except that that one had e.guitar too.

I'd assume they just mean she's the original composer of Point Zero, but who knows. OST booklet might be more specific. ;P

Looks like Kajiura does more work than we thought ^_^
(I bet that the 2 "the beginning of the end" arrangements were done by her and performed by her musicians since the feel was different from Fukasawa's music)

Hey guys! I opened this topic but since then haven't followed the discussions. I'm still catching my breath since watching the first 2 episodes (00 and 01). They were really awesome!

Well, about the music. I still think Kajiura-san would be a better choice (as a Kajiura-fan, of course), but I think on the less intense parts of the anime the new composer did well. I only think that in the battle scenes, or in epic-scenes overall, Kajiura-san would do a better job. But anyways, I loved every part of the show.

Looking forward to next week's episode!
 
This show is pretty good.

Episode 3 actually had some pretty substantial changes beyond the trimming and compressing in earlier ones. For instance, Rin fighting Ilya (and thus Ilya using Iris's wireframe bird familiars) was entirely anime-original, as is the second gif up there. It's working out pretty well for them.
 
Yeah, I really enjoyed this week's outing too. I don't normally appreciate action over characterisation, but the battles in this episode were just so damned good! :XD: I guess the 'kinetic' stuff doesn't come across so well in the VN format where there's just text and static images, so Ufotable are really playing to their strengths here. It makes me hope they focus on the Rin/Archer relationship and play down Shirou and Saber a bit. Rin's sooo much more fun and interesting to watch than boring old angsty Shirou!

Rendering Ilya's familiars to looks similar to how Iri's looked in F/Z was a nice touch too - it gave a nice sense of continuity there.
 
Loved all the anime-original scenes and holy crap that animation was beyond beautiful. ufotable's just showing off now, not that I mind. :plot:I'm looking forward to all future fight scenes like
Saber vs Kuzuki and Shirou vs Archer
I can only imagine how glorious it would be, only for ufotable to defy my already high expectations.

OST was pretty sweet too, unlike previous episodes which acted more like BGM.
 
Ep 4. There was a repetition of one of the beginning to the end arrangements.

the episode was pretty boring though :(
 
^ Well I dont have any complain as to how they unfolded it, it was just that part it covered that it didnt have much battle or plot progress , but mostly calm talking. I have also noticed that the music is better, liked the BGM during Rin fighting those skeletons
 
Well you said "boring", which to me implies a negative emotion. I on the other hand didn't find it boring. Taiga ftw.

Is it me or it says "A" new song ? or its the google translation wrong ?

There were 4 arrangements so far if im not wrong, 2 of Point Zero, and 2 of the beginning to the end
