Mite b cool. Hopefully the guest is actually special, and not just one of the usual guests, hue.
 
I wish there was a way that we could influence these shows getting recorded and released for all of us who can’t travel to Japan to see them. I know that due to piracy, there’s not much profit in releasing discs, but maybe if Yuki used a new strategy, like some kind of kickstarter campaign in which fans would preorder the recordings, and that early investment could help finance the tens of thousands of dollars required to professionally record the concerts and produce a final cut. Considering how the concerts and talk events are always sold out, it seems like there should be enough fans around the world to make this financially viable.
 
They are sold out thanks to japanese, the foreigners get few copies only as anime is niche of niche everywhere else.

(The thing with that livestream was that they were also recording another day for release though. I suspect it was easy extra money. It wasn't a free ustream, was it? PS. Is ustream still alive? lol)
 
I have some more ideas about this. There could be different tiers of supporters. The basic tier gets a digital download, a higher tier gets a BD package, higher tiers get additional knickknacks/posters/t shirts/etc. And all the supporters get to vote on songs, with each dollar representing 1 vote, and Yuki promises to perform the top 5 highest voted songs.

But you do realize how much youd have to donate to make the product (from scratch) and all the extra shitty rewards that dont help with the original product. Then add shipping. Then add customs.

Its great that people believe in crowdfunding and patreons. No. scratch that. Its great that some people have that kind of cash to spare.

You might have been making a good point but arguing that anime is 'niche of niche' outside of japan is just false. There is a lot of mainstream audience for that stuff for decades now.
 
The videos could be distributed as legit downloads. People download stuff for free because it’s already available, but if the only way that something was even going to exist is if people paid for it in advance, then more people would pay. I would much rather pay for something like that than get absolutely nothing.
 
For FictionJunction Station members, the ticket lottery period is:

2018年12月29日(土) 15:00～2019年1月10日(木) 23:59,

with confirmation period of:

2019年1月18日(金) 15:00 ～ 1月27日(日) 23:00.

Each FictionJunction Station member can apply for up to two tickets for each concert (so they could bring one non fan club member with them, but as resale is prohibited I gather that the member would actually have to show up at the concert with the non-member).

I am looking at attending on August 16 or August 11 and possibly June 15 and 16 (soundtrack specials), and can bid for a second ticket if anyone is interested (entering ticket by 6th January).

Most people i have asked, or online have only watched One Piece Naruto Bleach and Death Note, you need to go inside the niche to find people who watch more than that, and even if they watch more they usually dont listen to japanese music, so how will they be interested in a live concert in the first place ? and what is few thousands of fans compared to millions of population of each country ? The thing is its not enough to generate good income for the record labels to try harder to get new foreign fans.

Just in case that you decide to bid for the soundtrack special, I'm also interested in June 15&16 concert.

As for Terry's preorder idea, it's been realized for a while for some (not that popular) anime release in Thailand. And it seems that the number of preorders doesn't need to be that big. Just ensure that they can make the release break-even and sold out.

In Thailand case, it seem that they wouldn't release the anime if the number of preorder from the survey is so low that the income would be lower than the cost. I don't know the exact number, but consider from the popularity of those animes in Thailand, I think it's only a few thousands or hundreds.

It sounds possible for the release for a small group of fans though. There may be small number of foreign fans (and some Japanese fans) who can't attend the live, but it doesn't mean that those who attend the live don't want to buy the recordings. The number of people who would preorder the release is big enough for this strategy IMO.

I guess you never heard of Sword Fart Online then. Even I acknowledge the popularity of that thing despite recognizing the treasonous filth it is. Kajiura is the most well known anime musician/composer overseas, pretty sure this is a fact. Each thing she does has a fan base that accumulates worldwide, however small.

There is almost 100% certainty enough interest to 'crowdfund' a basic recording of a concert or two, just look at all the creepy moe-porn VNs whose localization is super-overfunded overnight on a regular basis in the overseas markets. Since you will be removing distribution and publishing costs from traditional distribution methods, initial costs must be lower as well.

Then again as we know, there is the domestic market in Japan for BDs and its probably enough to justify the costs to begin with, so the reason they haven't released a disc in years probably has something to do with YK lacking the backing from a major publisher or agency at the moment. The lull in Fiction Junction combined with the uptick of Kalafina releases for years must be related to this. With the renewed vigor behind the FJ Music label we can hope someone will grab the rights to a recording of her next major event. Is Flying Dog levitating over the bus Kajiura was thrown under by SpaceCrap?
