I dont know if its on BBC or somewhere else too but I found the news on that greek news site. It says that a german court said that Youtube is responsible for the piratic music videos that are on it and it asks it to establish filters to prent them from getting uploaded.
this means no Kalafina or FJ videos anymore
Bu its only for the German videoclips I think.
Yeah, right. 2011 Sendai earthquake is also their doing, didn't you know?
And why only Youtube, then? Dailymotion, Metacafe and a ton of other video portals out there - they all must have loads of unlicensed content. Youtube's just the most well-known one.
It smells just like SOPA and other jabs at the Internet. Sane distributors have long moved on to seeking ways to coexist and seek profit from licensed Internet distribution by offering a bonus of sorts (one which could remain exclusive enough, that is). The rest just can't understand that they're boxing with the wind.
I personally don't think there are filters that can successfully screen out all pirated videos...but if that's not the case, then Youtube may well install something like that. At any rate, though, because it's owned by Google, it's definitely not going anywhere, filters or no.
