I was thinking about this during a car ride (random) and thought it would be an interesting topic. What does "Kalafina" and "FictionJunction" mean to you?
Now we already have somewhat of an official definition but this is more of a personal question. It could be what it means musically, or if it is a noun what is a definition. Its all up to you.

Happy talking. :dote:

hm FictionJunction would be a more jpop/folklore group, while Kalafina is more dark (at least till red moon and magia), I dont really know :XD:

Re: Your Personal Definition of "Kalafina" and "FictionJunct

^I thought some of the songs on red moon were kind of dark, so i would go with that definition for Kalafina too, but also they have a lively, mysterious feeling as well (especially on stage). Their music is beautiful and majestic to me.

While fictionjunction is more energetic, rocky (heh), and they also have some really beautiful songs as well. stone cold surprised me, so I guess surprising would be another description for me.

Both groups have some similar qualities, but they both also stand out by themselves. I think I love Kalafina more, but it is hard to tell, since I love almost all of Yuki's works. :dote: Both make me happy though whenever I listen to them and make me want to dance.

Kala = New Age. Heavy use of FX, an exotic and sometimes Middle-Eastern sound, many slow songs without much of a beat.

FJ = J-Pop. Mostly conventional rock arrangements, a straightforward and more 'familiar' sound, many upbeat songs with regular drums.

I define both of them as more than JPOP.

Kalafina = a touch of ambient, new age, chamber pop, dark

FictionJunction = very good voice harmony and versatile.

I meant more like if Kalafina and FictionJunction were words:

for example:

Kalafina - Mysterious, yet beautiful

FictionJunction - versatile

idk those were just on the spot examples haha.

Sou ka. . .XD

Kalafina - regal, smooth

FictionJunction - energy, heart jumping

Ah, I see :ayashii:

Okay, let me try...

Kala = ethereal, exotic
FJ = honest, down-to-earth

Re: Your Personal Definition of "Kalafina" and "FictionJunct

Kalafina => Mysterious, Dark and yet very lively

FictionJuction => Making the song full of life in it :XD: :XD:

FictionJunction songs are epic and emotional

Kalafina song is also emotional, but Yuki add Dark elements into it

Almost all FJ song gives u :TdT: effect when u listen to them.

Not all Kalafina gives the :TdT: effect, or maybe less.compared to the total number of their song. But the rest of Kalafina song with less :TdT: effect still gives u :nophoto: effect.

Kalafina: FJ + Hikaru - Kaori I see Kalafina as as a dark and mysterious group. Their songs are also very emotional and captivating.

FictionJunction: I find their songs to be grand and lively.

Genre-wise, I'd opt to label both groups as "eclectic pop". The style I hope to become prevalent in world pop industry someday. :shy:
Arrangement-wise, I think Ninetales defend the differences quite well. I'm not sure if I can add anything to it. :ayashii:

FJ as in FJ (Wakana + Keiko + Kaori + Yuriko) or FJ as in everything, from Yuuka to even Asuka?
I personally could care less about FJ. If I were to define it for myself, it would be: okay.
As for Kalafina, it would be "eclectic" as far as the other artists I listen to are concerned.

Difficult question..I really LOVE both of them , but Kalafina are so mysterious and even in the most animated songs ; there is always a part, often Kajiuran, that leaves me breathless with how beautiful is :dote: :dote:
About F.J : send me a lot of energy like Zodiacal Sign or Ston Cold and I adore W/K's parts like Ensei *W*
Then the vibrato of Yuriko are wonderful like in Here we stand in the morning dew!!!
:dote: :dote: :dote:

Kalafina: Goddesses of both light(got my impression when watching "Symphonia PV") and dark, majestic voice

fictionjunction: Goddesses of both sun and stars, sounds of horizon

Hmm... I tend to relate the sounds with the colours... Kalafina's songs are majestic, mysterious, and exotic.. make me think of black&white, golden&silver that are usually found in traditional European/Eastern arts.. It's Kalafina's image in my mind. While FictionJunction's song are like a rainbow. They have various colours in itself, more down-to-earth, more bright, more common..., and also really lovely... :shy: . That's all... :sohappy: .
