they'we made a 3.0 by now
 
it was the host's fault, the main site was down too >_<

I'll update phpbb after exams (in 1 month) ^_^

when i look up the IPs of those guests they seem to be all google or yahoo bots, usually :S

no idea how they manage to get to those pages o_o
 
Congratulations! You now know what a "Web-Crawler" is! (in case you don't i'll explain... )

The google/yahoo bots are AI's designed to extract and analyse information on a homepage! actually, theese web-crawlers adds this forum/homepage to te search engine.

To say it simple, the bots copy/paste info to the mail search engeine server.
 
i know what a webcrawler is o_O
just weird how they can get to those pages, since webcrawlers work by following links, and that link shouldn't appear unless you're logged in. i think the bots can see those links though
 
actually... If someone linked to here, on a forum/ dA, the crawler would follow the trail. so it kinda makes sense.... in my geek way... :desksweat:
 
people wouldn't link to pages like privmsg.php though ^^; the bots probably get there because the links are visible in the source but not on the page. i don't have the forum registered in google webmaster tools yet (though the main site is) so i can't tell what the bot sees...maybe i'll do that soon
