This has gotta be my favourite Soviet cartoon. :XD: It was made by the Armenian director Robert Sahakyants (who you might call a kind of Soviet Akiyuki Shinbo in his time :ohoho: ). The translation here is not perfect, but it handles the meanings and wordplay quite nice. Thanks to this translation, I can share this masterpiece of hilarious absurdity here. :sohappy:

Wow, the animation makes He-Man look good :uh..:

But I like some of the camera angles! The one from the fish's perspective (or so it seems) is really interesting.

But the rest is pretty much... :omg:

i like this!!!

i also like some similar /or maybe/ animations like geraldine :XD:

Soviet animation means Soviet budgets... Of course, Soyuzmultfilm handled these budgets better, but Armenfilm was never that well-staffed in comparison either. Still, I love the fluent and high on crack imagery Sahakyants uses. :dote: :ohoho:
Btw, a "blink and you'll miss it" spot: the night sky Eh-Ack skyrockets of to is full of constellations signed in Russian. It also includes Pisces constellation which in Russian is written as "Fishes". This one, however, reads "Talking Fishes". :psst:

The one from the fish's perspective (or so it seems) is really interesting.

I'm not quite sure what you're referring to... :confu:

It is very interesting...the Eh-Ack thing almost reminds me of No-Face from Spirited Away :ayashii:

There's a point where, when the fish is talking to the man in the boat, the camera looks up at him and moves back and forth, like it's from the fish's perspective as it flops around.

It starts at about 1:10 and lasts for maybe four seconds :XD:

I don't know if it is from the fish's perspective, though. It's tough to tell because the shot starts in the third person, and then the camera moves off and back again :confu:
