So I know there are so many great singers here... I thought that I may have a few pointers, lectures or lessons from you.. any who can also ask.. :P

I really don't know the reason why sometimes, my voice cracks when I sing falsetto esp. when stressed. :uh..: Anyone knows what's exactly, happening?? Any reasons and recommendations? D;

same here, but I bump it for the poll. Only in our forum you can find attached polls that [may] have no particular connection to the thread itself. :XD:

Try posting up a sample for analysis. :XD:

And I love this poll!!!! :psst:

I'm definitely not a great singer, nor am I an expert in the field; however, I had a similar problem, so I'll share with you what I think is relevant.

Does your voice crack up there all the time, or just on a few occasions? I'll be writing this post as if it was a consistent problem, so bear with me.

I had a hard tome reaching high notes in high school, since I always sang contralto (and sometimes tenor parts). My problem was my technique, plus I hadn't developed my voice to sing in that range. Stress is definitely a big factor. If I remember correctly, when you're stressed, you tend to tense up your body, which restricts your vocal cords. I was taught to always be relaxed when I'm singing. I suggest trying to relieve the stress first. Do anything you find relaxing.

My suggestion to you is to work on getting your voice more comfortable in falsetto. When (if you do, which I hope you do) you warm up your voice, start from your falsetto and work your way down to your lowest notes. You tend to crack if you go from the bottom of your voice upward. It'll develop over time. I developed that upper range without having my voice crack all the time over the course of my high school career.

I hope that helped. :sparkleguy:

Re: Re:

@Kerahna: LOL! I bet, you're not innocent, either. :P

@Nick: Haha! I always do something like that. xD

@Special_K: Err.. It's hard to do it intentionally. Sorreeeyy.. :@_@:

@Rafael_sama: Neehh.. Okay, okay!! I'll find a way, pah. >:P *pokes nose* :ohoho: :sohappy:

@Spirica: Ahw, yes! It helped me. ^_^ I would answer in few occasions.

@Murrue02: YAY!! Thank you so much for that link! Now, I know.. muscles are weak.. :uh..: which is I think, true to me. :omg: :goodjob:

^ Pardon my late reply. :cry:
Do you mean the body or the voice? There are exercises you can do in both cases. I had a choir director that had us roll our shoulders and necks, and shake out our arms to relax our bodies. Most of the tension builds in your shoulders and neck. If you keep your arms tightly at your sides, you'll strain yourself; same thing if you keep your neck rigid. Other methods actually involve breathing exercises. Take a deep breath and slowly let it out to the count of beats, up until a number specified (12, 6, etc...). Also, if you can make that buzzing sound with your lips, you can do that to loosen your lips.

As for the voice, always start with your upper range. It loosens your vocal chords much better than starting in your lower range. I made that mistake for years. :uh..: After that do simple, step-wise scales. The breathing exercises are good for here too, so you're not straining to finish a phrase in a song later on.

Oh, for both, make sure you're standing; it's easier to accomplish the above exercises.

Those are the ones that stood out most in my mind. I'll try to remember more. I hope I answered your question!

@Shizu: I'm glad. :innocent:
