Sounds more like Joelle perhaps than Remi to me... Would be a first in SAO if that's right... Feels weird to lose consistency here...

I dont mind if Joelle is used too tbh. Other projects had multiple vocalists without issues, like Xenosaga FZ and Madoka, and its not like an untrained ear can tell the difference :)
 
But they had multiple singers from the start.

We had only Remi on SAO for 10 years. If YK went with someone else on the first progressive movie, sure, but that still featured only Remi. :/

Well, at this point I guess that's merely my speculah from this trailer and it still somehow could be Remi.

I mean, Kajiura can do whatever she wants. :) And it's not like I don't like Joelle (if this is her).

What I'm saying is that if this is not Remi, I am disappointed with losing that consistency after 10 years of SAO. I like me some consistency.

Now that it got me thinking about it, (scummy as that sounds,) if Kajiura had switched out Remi on the first Progressive already, that would have been a simple and effective way to differentiate Progressive from mainline SAO. Imagine "the first town" re-used but being sung by someone else in this canon. Alas... that did not happen back then...

I can hear why you guys think it might be Joelle, but I don't think she can sing that "operatically". I think it's just Remi sounding different, hue.
 
@grunty: What if Remi was sick but Kajiura had to do the recording anyway, and she was close to deadline ?
I listened to "fight to the finish" from Fena, and "driven to the wall" from SAO Progressive 1 and seriously its hard to tell them apart :(

That thought did cross my mind. If only because I find the idea of YK intentionally using someone other than Remi on SAO so surprising after all this time. If they waited with recording 'til the last minute, perhaps that's also why the previous teasers had non-Kajiura music (and if those were Kajiura, then I guess I need my Kajiura-fan status revoked).

In the end, no matter the reason, it still doesn't make it less inconsistent. Unfortunate.

(Again, assuming this is not Remi.)

Disagreed but whatever works.

IMHO Remi projects her voice completely differently than Joelle (and whoever it is in this PV). If this PV does end up being Remi, I'll absolutely be happy to be wrong and also impressed with how different she sounds compared to just one year ago (after hearing her for some ?15 years since Sound Horizon and Takanashi soundtracks).

I'm not trying to insist it's 100% Joelle (I don't have any point of reference for her singing like this either, maybe the highest non-infatuated parts of I talk to the rain and godsibb reprise lives but that's still not quite this) but all I know is that right now -I- really can't hear this being Remi, lol.

I'm absolutely ready to eat my words and be glad I'm wrong. We'll know in a month.
 
haha driven to the wall and fight to the finish definitely sound very different to me.

so between 0:09-0:12 (&at other timepoints too) it feels like there are couple vocal layers and that made the track brighter (to me).

Remi has an overall "dark" voice, generally operatic/classical voices tend to. Joelle is brighter. (I'm not making this shit up loll https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnLvSw8kgfY ) not that i'm an xpert. can joelle sing operatically? I couldn't find examples.

but I'd say the vocals are closer to the "driven to the wall" than to "fight to the finish". Remi's voice does come out very different at times (her aurora album). now i want it to be joelle, we'd have more fun xD

Does anyone see the new OST on Amazon?
I already have it preordered on CDJapan but I'm surprised I can't find it on Amazon. Could they be hiding it from my region? lol.
 
(why didn't anyone tell me that joelle was killing it in "The Last Ranker", the ost is so good.)
