Could it have something to do with the piano sounds whacked into the background? Or am I hearing things here?

It's actually a wide-spread practice - making alterations to the content so that it can't serve as a 100% copy. Ways and methods vary; Dissidia OP, for instance, pretty much survives today only in a with the mirror-flipped video.
