A j-rock band I found about recently. They used to be a visual kei band, but they ditched that early on (thank god, they looked so weird).

In case you don't know them, they formed in 2003 and celebrated their 10th anniversary last year.
They have produced 10 albums:
- Renai (2004)
- Hoshi no Miyako (2005)
- Play (2006)
- Sentimental Macchiato (2008)
- Side B complete collection: e.B (2008)
- hikari (2009)
- dead stock (2011)
- M&W (2012)
- SID 10th Anniversary BEST (2013)
- OUTSIDER (2014)
- SID ALL SINGLES BEST (2016)

And 31 singles:
- Yoshigai gaku 17 sai (mushoku) (2003)
- Ryutsu-ban (2004)
- paint pops (2005)
- sweet? (2005)
- Hosoi Koe (2006)
- chapter 1 (2006)
- Otegami (2006)
- smile (2007)
- Natsu Koi (2007)
- Mitsuyubi (2007)
- Namida no Ondo (2007)
- Monochrome no Kiss (2008, also their first major single)
- 2c me no Kanojo (2009)
- Uso (2009)
- one way (2009)
- sleep (2010)
- Rain (2010)
- cosmetic (2010)
- Ranbu no Melody (2010)
- Itsuka (2011)
- Fuyu no Bench (2011)
- Nokoriga (2012)
- S (2012)
- V.I.P (2012)
- Koi ni Ochite (2013)
- Summer Lover (2013)
- ANNIVERSARY (2013)
- hug (2014)
- ENAMEL (2014)
- white tree (2014)
- Hyoryu (2015)

So as you can see, they've been working hard.

The members include Mao (vocalist, my favourite), Shinji (guitar, sexy), Aki (bass, hot cutie) and Yuuya (drums, funny cutie)

The start of their career was weird, much like any others. Their first album didn't have much variety to the point where I hate two of their songs (for me, that never happens). But they've grown and their songs have a large variety, much like Kalafina.

Upon listening to all of OUTSIDER, I will post a review in my next post, this might be a double post.

"OUTSIDER" review:

laser: I love the electronic and futuristic sounds in this song, they was it just just sounds so peaceful until the guitar kicks in and it gains that familiar SID-esque kick is something I really like about this song. My favourite bit is the instrumental solo in the middle of the song, it's so chaotic, and I loved the drums in the bridge. Not a huge fan of Mao's singing in this but whatever it's Mao~ (8/10)
(I love how the first time he was just 'Koko kara, hajimaru' so clearly, but the second time he was like 'Koko kara, hajimarue~' It makes me think someone made him smile while he was recording XD)

CANDY: Okay so first, cool guitar melody starting it up with Yuuya playing a clear drum beat, then Aki kicks in the then it's all ROCK OUT and suddenly Mao starts singing in such a sexy way~ (my fangirl ness is getting in the way again~) No, but seriously this song is just so cool and I love how Mao rolls the 'r's'. My favourite parts of thing song is Mao and Shinji~ (10/10)

V.I.P: This song is very fresh with the violins and everything. I love the fast verses and the lyrics and just the singing in general
akogare wo imaaaaaa. I especially liked the last chorus with the powerful line of 'mitsu kazoete, the show time' cause it was just GRAND. Overall, upbeat song to dance to~ (9/10)

akai te (red hand): This song is so dark I love it! Seriously it sounds like something Kajiura would make. The violins are so haunting in the background and the 'kuruoshiku omoku, kuruoshiku akaku' was so epic~ The only problem is that the song seems really long, and that guitar solo is stretched out too much and the structure doesn't make much sense
(intro, verse, chorus, verse, instrumental violin break, bridge thingy, guitar instrumental break, verse, prechorus, chorus, ending thing?) but the ending was awesome. (7/10)

MUSIC: love the intro melody, as well as Aki in the chorus. The verses feel very sexy to me, just me? But I just love the melody, it's really catchy. The bridge is something else to me. Putting the chorus in there just with a lighter tone, replace epic guitar, bass and drums with soft acoustic guitar, and just throw some violin in there too, then back to the epic ness, not that I don't like it, it's my favourite part of the song.
I also like when Mao sung the word 'music' he actually said 'music' and not 'musicu' or something like that. (8/10)

summer lover: unoriginal title :XD: Seriously Mao just because 'summer love' has been used in japanese for one of your early single doesn't mean that nobody's gonna notice. To the song, it's very energetic, with the trumpet and bright tune to it all. I was impressed with how high Mao went in the chorus without using falsetto like the normally would. I really liked the guitar and the bass in this song too. (7/10)

Part two in next post:

Koi ni Ochite (Falling in love): Very arrogant song XD I was surprised with the very old sounding intro and then BAM VIOLINS BAM ACTION BAM EPIC LETS START THE SONG. I just song how catchy, arrogant and sexy the song sounds. I recall the first line of the chorus being 'falling is love is useless for someone accustomed to happiness and beauty, isn't it?' I remember that's when my opinion of the song changed a lot. Despite what I've said there are some really epic parts in this song, especially the part after the intro, the violin, the chorus and the ending. (10/10)

Meiro (Maze): I was expecting a dark song by the title, but instead I got a sweet, cutesy song that was so happy I began to imagine rainbows and unicorns and all that junk in my head. Apparently it's about childhood friends and the male (I think) secretly loves the female or something so it's a love story~ a cute love story~ I was really impressed with Mao's singing in this song. It wasn't powerful, but cute as the song demanded. Unlike with most singing with a lot of breath in soft songs, I couldn't hear a single hiss of breath when he sung. Annoyingly, this is my least favourite song on the album. It's not bad and I like it, but it's not as good as the others (6/10)

darling: Expecting a ballad. But once again my thoughts were dashed because EPIC QUITAR ELECTRONIC WHUMP WHUMP ROCK SONG WHOOO WHOOO. This song is just epic. Rock sounding and great to dance too. Especially the chorus, which you could jump around with the 'sakeruuu, WHOA OH, sakeru-u-u, WHOA OH'. I especially liked the 'dare? dare ga? dare ga naku no?' And the sexy 'ah, ah, ah's'. I don't like the guitar solo though, it's relaxing against the epic guitar in the background. (9/10)

hug: I love you Shinji! This song is a rockish (and by rockish I mean little rock) ballad. While the song itself is fairly plain (even though it was stuck in my head for ages) it has the most memorable and beautiful lyrics I've ever come across; with the first chorus saying 'I embraced you with the scent of sunshine, that's all I can do. But the warmth will endlessly colour your days.' :love:It's simply a beautiful song with my favourite pv in history. (10/10)

ANNIVERSARY:
Ending the album with the song of their 10th anniversary (which was a year before this album came out XD) This a fun song with inspirational lyrics, which Shinji and Aki's instruments making simple yet affective background music, but I simply adore Yuuya's drumming in this song. My favourite bit is the bridge, Mao sounds like he's so happy when he's like 'sore ga kiseki'~ What a way to end an album! (9/10)

I am very pleased with this album, no disappointments here~

Overall: 9/10:cheer:

I've heard a few of their songs from anime. The ones I liked were Monochrome no Kiss, Rain, V.I.P, and Enamel. I also like cut and chapter 1 live that was on the Rain single.

I found out about SID a few years back when I watched Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I instantly fell for Uso and Rain  I believe the next song I heard by them was Monochrome no Kiss, and it was after that when I truly got interested in them.

I got their entire discography, and at first I was a bit disappointed because I felt like their earlier works didn't have much variety. But I'm really glad I didn't give up back then because I've come to love so many of their songs - some of which I fell for instantly, and some of which took two or three listens.

A list of songs that I really like:
  • Ao
  • Ajisai
  • Aikagi/Aikagi (Unplugged Ver.)/Aikagi [Live from SID TOUR 2009 hikari]
  • Izon no niwa
  • Hosoi Koe/Hosoi Koe [Live from SID Summer Festa 2010]
  • Chapter 1/Chapter 1 [Live from Ichiban Suki na Basho 2010]
  • Otegami
  • Room
  • Hanabira
  • Natuskoi/Natsukoi (G/S Remix)
  • Yuukan Collection/Yuukan Collection [Live at Nippon Budoukan 2008.11.2.]
  • Orion
  • Monochrome no Kiss
  • Uso
  • Higasa
  • Rakuen
  • One Way
  • Sleep
  • Utahime
  • Rain
  • Cut
  • NO LDK
  • Itsuka
  • Konagona
  • Ito
  • Café de Bossa/Café de Bossa (Live from TOUR 2012 M&W extra in Taiwan)
  • Dresscode
  • V.I.P/V.I.P (Anime Ver.)/V.I.P (Instrumental)/V.I.P [Live from - SID 10th Anniversary LIVE]
  • Soumatou
  • Koi ni Ochite
  • Zetsubou no Hata
  • Shoukyakuro
  • ANNIVERSARY
  • Hug/Hug (Instrumental)
  • Akai Te
  • Darling

There are a few more, but those are the main ones. Also, I have yet to go through their two latest singles (Enamel and White Tree) :TdT:

I particularly love Aikagi for the guitar and Chapter 1's violin at the start. There's something about Hosoi Koe that makes me want to  at times, particularly its opening. Otegami moves me quite a bit too :touched:. Then there's Hanaaaaaabiraaaaa~ It always reminds me of a breezy, warm summer afternoon :tea:. And speaking of summer, Natsukoi is a pretty upbeat song. It's one of those songs that I play when I'm alone at home to make things feel less eerie :TdT:. Ah, and I love when Mao goes "Hayaku musunde..."... in Yuukan Collection :nosebleed:

A lot of their songs have amazing lyrics too. I love Rain for that very reason, particularly these verses:

Endlessly ringing; the merciless memories seem to have no intention of forgiving me
If I close my eyes they will only grow, surrounding me at a distance, you laugh

Will the rain ever stop, I wonder? For a pretty long time now it’s been cold
Why does the rain choose me? Why does it choose me who has nowhere to escape to?

Time intrudes on the new morning I finally found
The direction I face is not the future I kept chasing after the past

You, who gave me a new start by your consolations and the hateful and cowardly me
It’s about time… Fumbling, my troubles spill down my tired cheeks

Soumatou as well:

It’s so dark
It’s so tight
This world hurts too much
...
The rain won’t stop
The dawn won’t come
I’m already used to it
But today, I’ll start to run away from it
...
I remember when I was still young
When I threw away my smile

And Hug:

Tell me a little more about yourself
For there is so much about you I don't know

It is truly the first time I have such feelings
It does feel nostalgic but it is my first time
...
I embrace you with the scent of the sunshine, that is all I can do
But the warmth will endlessly color your days, so...

Finally, there's Darling, which I fell for the very first time I heard it and it is currently one of my obsessions. But you've already summed up my thoughts on it very well :goodjob::

darling: Expecting a ballad. (9/10)

...Dem "ah's" indeed :nosebleed: And I absolutely love the chorus too - it always makes me wanna get up and just... move :XD: I also can't help but go "sakeruuu, WHOA OH, sakeru-u-u, WHOA OH" as loud as I can too :TdT:

Anyway, that's it for now. Might have more to add after hearing those two singles~

...Long post is long :...:

NEW SINGLE

漂流 (Drifting)

It will be released in three types:

Limited Edition TYPE A
CD
1. 漂流 (Drifting)
2. 運命の人 (Fated Person)
3. ENAMEL (Live from『SID Otoko Gentei Tour 2015 Otodama』)
DVD
1. Hyouryuu (PV)
+ 2016 calendar

Limited Edition TYPE B

3. ENAMEL (Live from『SID Otoko Gentei Tour 2015 Otodama』)

Regular Edition
1. 漂流 (Drifting)
2. 運命の人 (Fated Person)
3. ENAMEL (Live from『SID Otoko Gentei Tour 2015 Otodama』)

Literally though, no blu-ray? Well, that leaves no problems for me since I don't have blu-ray but I'm sure that'll annoy everyone else.
And a bleeping calendar comes with one edition? That almost makes me want to buy this overdue piece of crap with two new songs. Almost.

First impressions when it comes to titles, they both sound like ballads. But knowing SID's history when it comes to diverse songs in singles, it'll probably be different. And who knows, maybe they'll pull a Mirai Nikki on us and make Unmei no Hito really dark.
Also Unmei no Hito immediately made me think of Maiko Fujita, cause damn I love that song.
