I did not find any information on this.
Are Wakana, Yuriko , Keiko and Kaori single?

(Sorry I did not find a off topic thread to post this into)

Even if they were they wouldnt say it because there's some thing in japan that hardcore fans claim the artists for themselves and get angry if one dates, or that's what I gather from past discussions elsewhere in the forum. I hope they do something though. ;)

LOL I thought you were more into Kasahara :P

There's a question about Kajiura herself too, but she hasnt left an sort of hints so far :@_@:

Speculating because why not.
I can see Kaori as someone who would have a partner. Yuriko is a real mystery. The Kalafina girls are probably too focused on their careers to be searching for a partner.

And Kajiura-san is probably asexual.

^Yeah, Yuuka's announcement made me realise that they keep their private lives very much private, but when something major like a wedding or pregnancy happens, we'll all know about it at an appropriate time. Yuuka seems pretty content atm, which is great to see.

I've actually been surprised in the past about how famous people in Japan seem to keep their personal and professional lives separate so successfully. I had no idea that Naoko (the frontwoman and songwriter of Shonen Knife) had a daughter, who is apparently high school age now. I'm just used to the media in my part of the world being really intrusive about this sort of thing - we tend to hear about every little thing about an actor/actress/musician's relationships and home life, whether we want to know about it or not!

I suppose Japan does have nosy gossip magazines and such just like everywhere else, but they apparently don't get translated or exported much. Not that I've gone out looking for them, because I couldn't care less who was seen out with who, how much they weigh, or what they're having for breakfast this week.

I don't think Kajiura is asexual, some of her lyrics can be kind of suggestive.

I'm confused by what you mean. Why does having some suggestive lyrics make you think Kajiura most likely isn't asexual?

They really are able keep their private lives private as far as we know, since we don't get to read many tabloid magazines, if any, like @Martin said. I applaud them for that.

We cant go by the lyrics because if they were suggestive, Fiction's (the song) lyrics suggests she's lesbian

https://canta-per-me.net/lyrics/fiction/

I was just a silent girl
always dreaming of a little angel

now wake up, my silent girl
take to flight, like a foolish angel

the summer is here, we kiss and fall in love
but we’ve got to go, leaving nothing here
I wanna share the memories of long forgotten love

the "man" lyric in the middle, is "hito" and not "otoko"

Kajiura posted a weird tweet long ago (can't find it sorry) that could be interpreted as the clue she's not lesbian. But my radar panicked when I saw her for the first time, sooo maybe...:ayashii:

Well that's none of my business:waa: Maybe she's asexual, or she doesn't want to be in relationship...
But if she's lesbian AND single, maybe I could let you Keiko....
:glasses:

EDIT : In the interview that took place in her old school, she mentioned she fell in love for a pianist guy when she was younger, so she's asexual, straight or bi.

or she just cooked up a story for societies acceptance ;) my gayday, however, senses that she aint straight and neither is Keiko. Oh well, we will just never know

Same thing :psst:

Well, maybe. Society is so complicated, and rude sometimes...:rain:

Btw, what are the gay rights in Japan ? No marriage, I know, excepted in Disneyland and a Shinto Shrine.
But are they hated like in Russia, or accepted, or what ?

Same sex marriage is NOT legal in Japan

The Disneyland marriage was not a legal marriage, it was more symbolic rather than anything else

Article 23 of the new constitution was to assert freedom of consenting adult to marry and explicitly establish the equality of both sexes in marriage. The wording defined marriage as a union of husband and wife. Some legal scholars argues that because the intent behind the Article was not in reference to same sex marriage, it need not apply in legalising same sex marriage. However, conservative lawmakers as well as legal scholars who take a literal approach to constitutional interpretation argue that such argument is a stretch

Sometime April this year, the Shibuya ward office in central Tokyo has offered same-sex couples special partnership certificates which are stated to be equivalent to marriage. While these licenses are not legally recognized as marriage certificates, they are still a useful tool in civil matters such as hospital visitation rights. The certificate issued is not a marriage certificate and the current Japanese legal code does not prohibit the "partnership" of same sex couples.

You can find more information on this here: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/mar/31/tokyos-shibuya-ward-same-sex-marriage

Note: Im sure youre wondering how I know so much about it, well thats because im a law student and I recently took up Family Law as one of my core subjects. Decided to do some extra research on my own a few months ago on Japan's laws on same-sex marriage.

As far as I know homosexual relationships aren't frowned upon in Japanese culture even if the two in the relationship aren't foreigners. This is because same sex attraction and relationships are outright mentioned and clearly written in many Japanese historical documents/ recordings and are a large part of life in the army many dynasties ago.

TBH the only reason same sex marriage wasn't legal in Japan before was probably western influence. Honestly I don't really care what gender/ sexual orientation the YK family has they're all beautiful.

Kaijura being asexual doesn't make much sense since almost all songs about romance and attraction romantically and physically. She may have a different romantic orientation to her sexual orientation but due to the strong emotional lyrics in the songs which seem deep and from the heart it doesn't seem likely. It's hard to write lyrics like hers with no romantic or sexual attraction in my opinion. It seems much more likely that Kaijura is demisexual/demiromantic ( one who only experiences romantic and sexual feelings after creating a deep friendship/ bond with them.)

Because if she were asexual I'm not sure why she would write songs with that kind of content? I mean, when they aren't comissioned for an anime or whatever but her own album lyrics like Vanity, love come down or others I don't remember. I don't mean this as an attack on asexual people or anything, I just don't think she would be writing about physical attraction like that, but more from a platonic point of view always when it came to love or attraction.

But with that perspective it would mean that gay people cant write stores with straight couples, which is not true. Also according to Wikipedia asexual can also mean no interest for sex, but it could allow love affection.

@george1234 Hey, I'm just wondering as much as everyone else, I have no idea. I was just thinking about how I wouldn't write about stuff I have no interest in if I wasn't comissioned for it, in case I was an artist, but what do I know about Kajiura's motivations? haha.

Your gay people analogy doesn't really work for me, but I'm having a hard time explaining it. I hope I can get my point across. There are many places in this world where homosexuality is not only frowned upon, but punished, even being a capital offense in a number of countries. So there are many gay artists who HAVE to write from a "straight" point of view to protect themselves, or in order to not generate controversy. Being asexual, however, isn't something that is largely frowned upon (people can be mean about it but there is no state sanctioned persecution like there is for the LBGT community), so I wouldn't really understand the artistic/marketing/etc motivation to write a number of songs about sensual stuff if you definitely have no interest in it.

Also, I don't know why you're pointing out that asexual people can have feelings when I never said otherwise? I said that I think if she were asexual she would write her love songs from a platonic point of view, and not all of them are like that.

ETA: I don't care if she's asexual or not, honestly, just exposing my point of view here. I simply would like to understand why those who proposed she IS asexual think so, because I'm curious about it. Seems like the options considered are within the ace spectrum anyway (asexual or demi) and I would like to know why, now that I have explained my reasoning.

ETA2: also because I'm already way #tooinvested in this conversation, there are many japanese artists out there who write music who never ever write lyrics describing physical attraction or anything ever remotely sexual, so it's not like it's a necessity for J-music to feature that topic that would make someone with zero interest in it decide to tackle it a few times.
