Question About Kalafina Lives

How good are Kalafina's lives compared to other artists out there? Rate on a scale of 1-10, with 1 as the worst.


Personally, I'd give them an 7 or 8. They are on pitch 90-95% of the time (I have perfect pitch), but there are times where their voices just don't mix well. They sing with a lot of energy and passion which really does make up for those small, negligible errors.

Wakana is usually near-perfect in terms of accuracy and consistency. And yes, she has the voice of a goddess. People have said otherwise, but I don't see it. From what I've seen of their lives, (including a recently done Lacrimosa as well as her FJ stuff), I found very few errors in her performance. I guess since her part is usually the melody, her mistakes are more noticeable. (I am a bit biased, big Wakana fan)

Keiko is also quite good live. Very, very steady voice. She does not have the same accuracy as Wakana, I find her making more mistakes in terms of pitch. Maybe people are not sure whether it is Keiko or Wakana off-pitch when they sing in harmony, but from what I've heard so far, I'm pretty sure it's usually Keiko.

Hikaru has a strong voice, full of passion. However, I feel like she is weaker than the other two in terms of technical skill; her voice is quite shaky at times (many Sprinter lives) and her high notes sometimes have a nasal-ish sound.

I am more into Kalafina's more "anison" pieces, those are the lives I usually listen to. If I am missing something, let me know!

tl;dr: Rate Kalafina lives 1-10, 10 is best
 
You should hear their unedited lives (like the Japanese only songs/live vol.9 day-1 and NicoNico live) and not those we got from DVD/BD/Album to measure their real live-singing ability. We've got plenty of those recently.

(Anyway I'm so totally tempted to create a drama here to make this forum more 'lively', but oh well.)

Hi UNLIMITS, have you attended any Kalafina lives yourself? Have you attended any Kalafina lives where the girls *don't* use in-ear-monitors (IEM's)?

/me likes grunty the best. This is unrelated because there's nothing more to be talked about on connection to this topic but I miss the cat picture that you used as your avatar/profile picture. Why don't you use it anymore.

@UNLIMITS: Its a good advice to always search if there are threads that already cover the topic you want discussed. There is a search engine at the top right of the forum screen which you can use (search by word and let it show you every thread containing the words or only thread titles, and also by user). Also its not a good idea to re-shake vocal quality topics since its an issue that oftenly causes dramas in the forum (as you can see at #3 and #4) because there are people who have very different opinions with each other, since this forum doesnt only have loving fans but (quite) critical fans too.
 
I normally don't pay attention to whether or not it's edited or not, I guess it's safe to assume the less-than-perfect ones are unedited. I'll take a listen specifically to the unedited lives.

I'm kinda new to this, haven't looked around the forums and didn't know that this was a bad topic. Sorry for the trouble.

^ and this is not me, I just know that everytime it happens, there's a fight starting almost everytime, so I decided to take some measures.
 
Yaya, you just give warnings to people who get called names by High Class People on the Interwebs . :P I can't wait to read what Mr Perfect Pitch there has to say about those lives. :)

and the measure was not the warning, but locking those 2 threads before the drama goes out of control.
 
I know I'm also responsible for this is issue because I was the one who revived the progressive thread back. I'm not really sorry because I can't help it. That was maybe my fault for not discussing it privately with grunty via PM. But this is a free forum - and since it's related to Kajiura family vocalist, I think it was alright to discuss it on an open thread. grunty is entitled to his opinion and it's within his right to say it out loud in his own way, that's somehow always been mistaken as either joking or offending.

^ which 69, do you mean that mermaid ? Its was one drawn on a boat part, near the beach, when I was at holiday this summer, and I thought it was well done :XD:
