As you might have guessed, I tend to start a thread here whenever I listen to someone I like and see that there is no thread for them. It's quite fun :)

From Wikipedia: "Michiru Ōshima(大島ミチル Ōshima Michiru?, born March 16, 1961), is a Japanese composer who has worked on several video game, movie, and television titles. Her works include composition for the video games Genghis Khan II: Clan of the Gray Wolf for Super Nintendo,[1]Ico for PlayStation 2,[2]Legend of Legaia for the PlayStation (and its PlayStation 2 sequel, Legaia Duel Saga, for which she collaborated with eminent Japanese game composers Yasunori Mitsuda and Hitoshi Sakimoto), Arc the Lad III, and an orchestral arrangement of a Zelda medley for the Wii and Nintendo GameCube game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.[3] In addition to video game music, she has composed music for Godzilla vs. Megaguirus[4]and Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla[5] movies and scores for numerous anime television series, includingFullmetal Alchemist[6]"

Oshima is always a pleasure to listen. Her works are a true orchestral feast and very effective soundtrack music. She also uses vocals and ambient music and manages to create very precise, spot-on atmospheres.
Enjoy! Some of the music is hard to come by but here are some samples:

Yay, finally! :XD: A thread dedicated to how great this lady is. I was absolutely enchanted by the Sora no Woto OST. It reminded me a lot of the Kou Ohtani's Haibane Renmei score at first actually.

I suppose Ms Oshima is one of those composers who deserves to be more well-known, but has yet to work on an 'A-list' production that gets wider recognition (I enjoyed Xam'd and the Fuse movie, but again...they're not massively popular, sadly). Even so, loads of people I know are huge fans of FMA (man, I really need to watch that someday), so where's the love, guys?!

Patema Inverted is a lot of fun too. There's a UK/European special edition of the blu-ray release on Kickstarter atm, and iirc they managed to get the OST bundled in as a stretch goal. It made my day when I was told that.
