A voice worthy of fandom.
From Wikipedia:
"Maria Farantouri (sometimes spelt Maria Farandouri) (Greek: Μαρία Φαραντούρη), born in Athens on 28 November 1947,.[1] is a Greek singer and also a political and cultural activist. She has collaborated with prominent Greek composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, who wrote the score for Pablo Neruda's Canto General, which Farantouri performed."
If she had lived in Japan, she could have been a choice for Kajiura! I can't recommend Maria Farantouri enough. Here's a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeJdgUoF1AI (this is actually in Spanish)
Here's another of my favourites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLgerQJo7zM
ΤΟ ΓΕΛΑΣΤΟ ΠΑΙΔΙ or To Yelasto Pedi is quite famous and has lovely and meaningful story/lyrics. She is a very known voice all over the world though this particular song may be too folk-like for your liking.
She has also collaborated with Mikis Theodorakis, Eleni Karaindrou, Zulfu Livaneli and Vangelis. I will also open threads for these people as I think people may like them.
